Drawing on a wealth of knowledge and experience and a background of more than 1,000 magazine articles on the subject, engine control expert Jeff Hartman explains everything from the basics of engine management to the building of complicated project cars. Hartman has substantially updated the material from his 1993 MBI book Fuel Injection (0-879387-43-2) to address the incredible developments in automotive fuel injection technology from the past decade, including the multitude of import cars that are the subject of so much hot rodding today. Hartman's text is extremely detailed and logically arranged to help readers better understand this complex topic.

Anyone who is a fan of the Corvette knows the name John Lingenfelter. His accomplishments went from the drag strip to the way he redefined tuning GM vehicles, especially Corvettes. His love for speed and power led to many great one of a kind builds and today Lingenfelter is remembered for one word; speed.

But for all the speed he was able to produce out of his custom tuned vehicles he always made sure that they never lost their ability to be a daily driver. He felt that you should not only be able to have a blazing fast car, but one that was practical as well. In what has proven to be a fitting tribute to the legend, the company that he started called Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) built a Corvette that is practically capable of flying to the moon or just going to the corner store in.

The 2006 Lingenfelter Corvette Z06 427 Twin Turbo is a flat out speed demon that is capable of speeds that are simply absurd by any standards. This twin turbo monster is capable of putting 1100 horsepower to the rear wheels using 93 octane gasoline and if you really want that extra push simply fill it with racing fuel that is 23 psi boost and you get a car that is capable of 1300 horsepower. These numbers represent about double of what the new Corvette ZR1 can push out.

The engine is a typical LS7 that was specially built by the team at LPE and it sports many forged internal parts and a custom aluminum intake. The turbos are from Borg Warner and help this Corvette reach speeds that were previously thought to be impossible.

Because the car went so fast around the test track there was no real way of figuring in top speed, but the experts estimate it to be over 300 miles per hour. In going zero to 200 miles per hour this rocket was clocked at a mere 18.34 seconds. The ultra Vette did a standing mile in 25.12 seconds with top speeds of 226.25 miles per hour. For all its speed and power you would expect this to be a race track only car.

That line of thinking however is wrong as in true Lingenfelter fashion this Corvette could be a daily driver if so desired. The custom Z06 features the standard Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, fully running air conditioning, and a full interior with stock seats. The seats did receive an upgrade however with the addition of five point harnesses. Also added for the occupants protection was a six point roll bar. Talk about one hot grocery getter.

When watching this Corvette scream down the track you can't help but think that Lingenfelter is somewhere smiling and enjoying every second of it. Only could a name such as Lingenfelter be associated with such a mean machine. One thing is for sure, the people at LPE sure did their founder justice with the creation of this very special 2006 Corvette Z06 427 twin turbo.

Considered a leader in Corvette forums, and highly recommended by A. Schult is the blog and forum found at SmokinVette.com, where you can find tips and resources for the Corvette enthusiast. For additional info on the Lingenfelter, check out SmokinVette.com

Toyota Supra JZA80 Tune Melbourne | Dyno Tuning Melbourne

Today we are talking about the Toyota Supra JZA80 and the Wolf V500 Plugin Engine Management System.

The Plugin Kit gives you the ability to control ignition timing, fuel delivery, boost control, and whole host of other control systems on the JZA80.

The standard JZA80 had twin turbos, with three different boost control valves on it, the V500 can control that standard system. If you want to change to a huge single turbo, the V500 can control that as well.

In standard configuration, the V500 can use up to 30PSI boost pressure with the on-board MAP Sensor, or you can request an upgrade to a 45PSI boost pressure MAP Sensor. You can, of course, use an external MAP Sensor for even higher boost levels.

To remove the original Toyota ECU from the JZA80 Supra, you'll find it underneath the passenger side footwell carpet. Pull the carpet back, and remove the plastic panel that covers the ECU by removing the 3 10mm nuts. The original ECU is mounted on the floor. You undo the 10mm nuts to take the ECU out, and undo the 10mm bolt in the middle of the main connector and remove the plugs from the ECU.

Once the original ECU has been removed, it's time to plug in the adapter harness. First plug together the main connector with the bolt. Press the connectors firmly together and do up the bolt making sure it is properly seated. Once the bolt is bottomed out, it's time to connect the small connector. Just listen for the 'click' to ensure it is properly seated.

Now we fit the V500 Plugin Harnesses Earth Strap (large eyelet) to one of the mounting bolts in the floor of the JZA80. Finally, we plug the Wolf V500 ECU into the Wolf plugs on the Plugin Harness.

The V500 senses engine vacuum and boost pressure using a vacuum line that is run from the manifold to the V500. Make sure the vacuum line you are using has full manifold vacuum. Don't, for example, use a vacuum source that is connected to any device that may bleed off vacuum or boost.

One tip would be to run the communications cable out to a point (inside the glovebox for example) so that it is easy to get to for tuning.

Turn on the ignition key, the green light on the ECU will come on. On cranking, the light will turn yellow. When the engine runs, the light will turn blue, indication that all triggering systems (camshaft and crankshaft) are operating normally.

The ECU and harness can then be mounted and the plastic cover and carpet replaced.

The engine should start and run using the base tune that is supplied in the ECU. Now it is time to check the ignition timing with a timing light, and check around the engine bay to make sure there are no leaks or loose hoses or fittings before the car is taken to the dyno.

OK so it does have a small back seat, but that's only for better handling. I am a true racer and this is a true tuner. I have two elctric turbos installed pumping out 6 psi into a secret weapon r intake. i also put in an intercooler and a trans cooler.
