First, let's dispel the myth that is often the cliché associated with used cars. What exactly is a used car? Well, instead of a boring definition, here are a few examples of what makes a ride a used car. The moment you drive off the showroom floor with your newly-bought set of wheels, it is already considered a used car. A car may have been driven for a day or 10 years, both are considered as used cars. Most people buy a newer model of a car as soon as the latest one hits the showroom floors and immediately sell the old one. Their one-year old or less cars in pristine condition end up in the lots of a used car salesman's dealership as a used car.
Repossessed vehicles are sold off as used cars and most of these automobiles have barely burned rubber off the pavements. Cars in police impound or government auctions are for all intents and purposes considered as used cars, even if these had never seen the light of day and were lovingly kept in a garage or showroom. Some of these are higher-end luxury vehicles which can be purchased at an unbelievable fraction of their original cost. So try not to conjure up images of a beat-up old death trap with a tampered odometer when you hear the words "used car".
Now, why would you want to buy a used car? You would want to buy a used car for the very obvious reason that it is much cheaper to buy than a new one. The value of a car starts to depreciate on the very first day it is used, but do not equate depreciation of value with the over-all quality of the car itself. Granted, some cars depreciate in value much faster than other cars. However, a car that is rather pricey even If it is used is a sign that it is worth every penny and that it enjoys a good reputation for quality and performance. Now, why buy a brand new 2010 model of (insert car name here) when you can buy a perfectly good example of a much cheaper 2009 version of such a car?
Where can you find a reputable used car dealer? Nowadays, the answer to that is just a mouse-click away. Peruse through several sites on the net and look for the best used-car showrooms which are conveniently located close to your vicinity. You may also find used car dealerships in the local classified ads, just in case you cannot locate one in the net which is close to where you live.
Finally, the one thing you may be left worrying about which makes you hesitate in purchasing a used car is that you have no idea how the car was maintained and used by the previous owner. Not all used cars were meticulously maintained by someone's Aunt Matilda and were never driven under the rain or snow, nor were these carefully draped over on a silk bed sheet inside a garage. For your peace of mind, you can have a seasoned mechanic tag along to check under the hood when buying a used car. However, most used cars dealerships these days stay afloat by selling only the best used cars, so you need not worry too much about the quality of the cars sold.

Why does the Army issue it if...?
You know when you get to your PCS station...OR you're new to the Army and you get issued all this gear & what not.....BUT you NEVER get to use some of it?
For example......When I first got in the Army 3 years ago I got issued that Long Black Rain coat(or is it for the winter?)...which I NEVER had to use or even bring in for accountability....Another example is the Black Fleece I got issued here at Fort Hood just a few months ago...and NOW they say it's AGAINST regulation to wear a BRAND NEW black fleece due to the fact that there's no name tags on it when worn..and even if there are name tags it's not gonna match with the fleece(black with ACU green tag).
But anyway...Does anyone else have Clothing that was issued by the Army but that they have never worn due to some kind of regulation...or just for any reason?
yes, i have 28 years of issued items from the army. You are correct on certain items that we don't wear.
I noticed you said you have been in for over three years, the army has switched clothing manufactures as well as changed our clothing issue. Th international mission abroad really dictate our clothing issues. Some of the clothing you were issued were from our last transition phase. I have quite a bit I don't wear. We are also issued clothing for contingencies unforeseen, i.e, theaters of war, or possible theaters of war. I hope this helps with all the unused uniforms. And THANKS FOR SERVING! God bless....
