The 11th annual Durant Main Street Bass Tournament was held on the weekend of Saturday May 8, 2010 out of Alberta Creek Marina on Lake Texoma. This team event had a guaranteed first place prize of at least $1000. Tournament hours were from 6:30am-3:00pm and trailering was allowed. A cookout was also provided by Holiday Chevrolet for all participants after the weigh-in.
Quite often I write about fishing tournaments assuming that most readers understand the rules, the different divisions and unique vocabulary involved. Therefore I thought that I would take the time to explain some of these to the non-tournament angler.
Most bass tournaments are either team (two anglers) or individual events where the anglers compete for the best five-fish stringer of any combination of largemouth, spotted or smallmouth bass within a given time (usually 8 hours). During the contest, the participants are allowed to cull their fish. Culling means to throw back smaller fish that have been caught and replace them with bigger fish. Almost all local club tournaments are team events where as pro tournaments are exclusively individual.
Every bass tournament has the basic set of rules that are normally similar. These include: only using artificial lures, no fishing within a certain distance of another boat, fish must be caught on a rod and reel during tournament hours (no tying up previously caught fish), no adding artificial weight to fish and all contestants must be at the weigh-in site on time.
However, some tournaments have specific rules that include: places on the lake that are off limits, a time frame leading up to the tournament that is off limits or how tournaments are started. Most pro tournaments and some bigger team circuits begin with a morning "take-off" at the weigh-in site (usually a boat ramp or marina). In these contests teams or individuals draw for their take-off number. A tournament official will then be stationed in the harbor of the marina and call out each boat number.
Other tournaments use a term called "trailering" to begin their events. In this case anglers may use any public boat ramp on the lake prior to the tournament and motor to their starting spot. Participants may not cast, however, until the official start time. Trailering is useful during inclement weather so anglers can fish in protected coves. It also helps save money on gasoline.
Fish care is always a priority no matter the level of tournament. All boats must have working livewells (tanks that are aerated to keep bass alive) so that the bass are unharmed and released to be caught again. Hefty penalties are imposed on teams or individuals who weigh-in dead fish.
Currently there are two major/professional bass tournament circuits: BASS and FLW. Each has different individual divisions depending on level of angler and entry fee. The top division in BASS is the Elite Series that is featured on ESPN. To qualify for this level an angler must finish in the top five of one of the three Open Trails. BASS also has the Weekender Series and the Bass Federation (made up of bass clubs) for less experienced anglers. The BASS world championship is the Bassmaster Classic. Anglers must qualify for this event through one of their divisions.
FLW is composed of five divisions from top to bottom: FLW Tour, FLW Series, American Series, Bass Fishing League and the Bass Federation. The Forest Wood Cup is the FLW championship that pays $500,000 to the winner.

What is it That Gives Cragar Wheels an Edge Over Other Wheels
Cragar wheels are known for their speed, performance, good times, and adventures. Cragar wheels are race inspired wheels. They were founded in 1930 by Crane Gartz and Harlen Fengler. In 1964, Cragar S/S Super Sport Wheels were introduced and they quickly earned an outstanding position in the wheel manufacturing industry. They are some of the most popular and most successful custom-made wheels ever to be manufactured, and have been in continuous production for the last 41 years. They are built by combining in wire, aluminum, and chrome. There are about ten million vehicles that are equipped with Cragar wheels in today's market including the street rods, dragsters, pickups, and off-road vehicles.
Wheels invented in 3500 BC by the Mesopotamians. It was first utilized for pottery but later on it was used as an important tool for transportation. The first use of the wheel for transportation was probably in 3200 BC by the Mesopotamians for their chariots. After the Industrial Revolution, the wheels became an important element of technology. Today, there are many kinds of wheels available in the market, and each of them have been developed to serve specific purposes.
R. W. Thomson discovered and patented the pneumatic wheel. In his original design, he used many overblown tubes which were kept inside a leather cover. This was very advantageous since the whole wheel could be deflated only if there were many punctures or abrasions to it. The pressure inside could be altered to ensure smooth riding. In the late nineteenth century John Boyd Dunlop discovered the Rubber Pneumatic tire, but the rubber tire was still the most popular one. It was only in the year 1889 that the popularity of the pneumatic tire started growing.
The original form of the tire had its weaknesses. Since the tire was stuck to the wheel it was difficult to get to the inner tube. Then, in the year 1890, CK Welsh patented the wheel rim's design and came upon the basics of present day tires which have developed into what the tire is today. One of the most major developments in the field of tires has been the designing of the radial tires.
Cragar wheels are all manufactured in the United States only and are made to specific standards. They can be purchased only through authorized dealers, and not directly from the manufacturers. The prices for these wheels are set by individual dealers, so doing some research to get the best prices is essential before purchasing these wheels. The different kinds of Cragar wheels to be made are: Cragar S/S Super Sport, 390 Cragar Street Pro, Keystone Classic Wheels, Star Wire, and Super Supreme.
A mild wheel cleaner must be utilized when cleaning Cragar wheels. These cleaners are available with dealers. If the wheel is exposed to harsh elements like road salt, it is necessary to clean them right away. The wheels must also be polished regularly with mild polish to keep them looking new. These polishes are also manufactured by Crager. It is important to keep Cragar wheels clean to keep them functioning for longer periods of time.

Chevy 1994 7.4L 454 CID?
Does any one know what the compression ratio of a 1994 7.4L Chevy 454 CID Gen iv engine? Will this engine make a good Muscle Car power plant if built up wight ? I found one very cheap & for the summer i want to keep the bottom end stock but add a good cam/lifter kit, rocker/push rod kit headers, intake manifold, double pump holly, HI energy ignition to it.
then plant it into my Monte Carlo.
Need professional input> GM Master Techs < and or PRO street racing Mechanics.
Thank you.
You need to add a good set of heads to it. The factory peanut port heads are very limiting. It will then make plenty of power.
