After a decade of success with the first Landrover Freelander, the Rover Group now owned by Ford Motor since it was purchased from BMW in 2000 unveiled its second generation Landrover Freelander 2 at the British International Motor Show in 2006.
It retained the Freelander badge in European markets but was renamed as the LR2 in American markets. No other Land Rover product had as much lavish media hype as the Freelander 2. Prior to its official unveiling the motor show, it was given a private presentation that featured tennis celebrity player Maria Sharapova with a team of journalists at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
Major Changes
The new Freelander was a departure from previous Land Rover in production and design both inside and out. For a start, it was produced along with the Jaguar X-Type automobile at Halewood, instead of Solihull in Birmingham. It would be using a new chassis based on the EUCD platform (European C/D class) with a global midsize automobile platform that can accommodate straight or inline engines above a 3-liter displacement.
The new engine fitted into the second generation Freelander is a transversely-mounted Volvo SI6 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine which debuted with the Volvo S80. Unfortunately this petrol engine had not been made available in the UK which got 2.2 liter DW12 common rail turbo-charged diesel engine developed by the French PSA (Peugeot Societe Anonyme) for the Peugeot Citroen car.
The second generation Freelander 2 enjoyed better ground clearance and off-road handling capabilities making it closer to the Land Rover tradition and better than its rivals from BMW and Audi. Improved interior quality meant better road safety featured as standard and not as optional features.
It had a modified version of the Terrain Response off-road system also used in the Discovery III and Range Rover. Its 4WD was jointly developed with the Swedish company Haldex Traction AB with its third generation Haldex coupling later shared with the complete Volvo lineup between 2005 and 2008.
The Landrover Freelander 2 entered the US markets as the LR2 HSE in 2007 sporting the 6-cylinder 3.2 liter inline petrol engine generating 230 hp with 6-speed automatic transmission. It didn't come with the diesel variant found in its European version but had a slew of creature comforts like an Alpine 14-speaker 440-watt surround system, touch navigation screens and sophisticated heating system that heats the front windscreen and front seats at two heating levels, bi-xenon headlamps and an adaptive front lighting system memory for the driver's seat and mirrors.
The Freelander 2 TD4_e
Starting in 2009, the Freelander 2 TD4_e sported one of the most advance technologies with improved fuel economy and carbon emissions to make it the first SUV in the UK to be eco-friendly. That's what the "e" in the designation stands for - e-Terrain Technologies which is an environmentally friendly program from Land Rover.
The engine stops when idle and resumes when the clutch pedal is engaged with its instant stop/start system. This is done with a heavy-duty starter motor acting as a generator to recover energy through what is called regenerative braking using stored energy in capacitors to restart the engine without stressing the starter battery.

Smooth Performance With Mazda Clutch Master Cylinder
Many automotive vehicles today are offered in automatic transmission, for they are much easier to drive. On the other hand, motorists who want variety in revs and are fuel economy-conscious opt for manual trannies. Both types of transmissions have much similarities, except that in manual trannies, changing the gears is done manually by engaging and disengaging it through the clutch pedal. When launching new car models, car companies like Mazda, often give car buyers an option to choose between a manual and an automatic transmission vehicle model.
One the components common between a manual and automatic clutch is the Mazda clutch master cylinder, which works by shifting clutch pedal pressure to release the clutch. The clutch master cylinder is a mechanism that forces hydraulic fluid into a pipe, and through the clutch slave cylinder. It is located on the firewall, typically next to the brake master cylinder.
The Mazda clutch master cylinder has two reservoirs of fluid: two pistons and two or more circuits called brake lines. When a brake pedal is depressed, pressure is created inside the reservoirs by the main piston's movement. This pressure, together with the secondary piston, compresses the fluid evenly through each circuit and into the brake calipers. During this process, engine vacuum is mostly utilized to help apply pressure to the system. In case the brake line fails, the plan B is for the Mazda master cylinder to redirect hydraulic pressure to the remaining lines, thus avoiding catastrophic brake failure.
A failing Mazda clutch master cylinder can be detected by resting a foot on the clutch pedal. If the pedal goes slowly to the floor, professional checkup is immediately needed. In case a replacement is recommended, it is a good idea to also get a clutch slave cylinder at the same time, as both units usually fail around the same time. It is also advised to always flush the clutch hydraulic system every time the brakes are flushed. Failing to flush out the fluid from the clutch hydraulic system may cause rust to build up in the clutch system, resulting eventually to clutch master cylinder failure and ultimately, an unusable gear.

Changing Del Sol clutch master and slave cylinders?
Is it easy to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders on a Honda Del Sol... had a leak from master cylinder for awhile, kept refilling it, but now when i open the nut on the slave to bleed the line, nothing comes out, even though the master is full of fluid....and pedal won't return from floor, no pressure at all...
my answer go to site www.honda.com and tell your problem about the clutch and cylinders
1989 Mercedes-Benz 190 review from Jamaica
What things have gone wrong with the car? When I bought it the handbrake cable worked, but the lever wouldn't stay up. The clutch slave cylinder was going bad, and actually went while I was driving in traffic one afternoon. Car wouldn't go into gear so I had it towed home.
