Dust to Glory List Price: $14.98 Sale Price: $5.84 |
|
Don't be surprised if you feel a dry, tickling sensation in the back of your throat after watching the slam-bang racing documentary Dust to Glory. It's probably from the lingering sand and silt spewed from the knobby wheels of an array of machines that skitter from one end of the Baja Peninsula to the other. Using 90 cameras in a variety of formats, director Dana Brown captures the giddy danger of the race with truly visceral force. In 1967, a few California thrill-seekers had the Eureka spirit to take their homemade race cars for some whooping-up in the wide-open land just a few hours away. Since then, the Baja 1000 has turned into a party-fueled happening that's more akin to Burning Man than the Indy 500. It's billed as the world's longest nonstop race, running point-to-point for 1,000 miles through the Mexican desert from Tijuana to La Paz--pretty much the entire length of Baja. Dana Brown is the son of Bruce Brown, whose 1966 film The Endless Summer sparked a surfing craze, and still holds up as an incomparable ode to the existential surfing lifestyle. Dust to Glory is by no means so profound and uses more of a Warren Miller thrill-marketing style (he of the annual throwaway extreme-skiing films). Cameras swoop down from helicopters, careen through silt, and are put into tracks over which vehicles pass at extreme speeds. In spite of the adrenaline rush, Dust to Glory is ultimately more about what people think about the higher implications of the competition. One veteran finisher describes it this way: "It's like having all 10,000 close calls of your life in one day. It makes regular life feel like slow-motion." --Ted Fry Director Dana Brown ("Step into Liquid") presents this adrenaline-charged overview of the notorious Tecate Score Baja 1000 challenge. More than simply just a race, the annual event features the world's greatest car, motorcycle, dune buggy, truck, and ATV racers facing off in an endurance test against each other and the harsh conditions of the Baja desert. Competitors include Mario Andretti, Robby Gordon, Johnny Campbell, Steve Hengeveld, and J.N. Roberts. 97 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English, Spanish; deleted scenes; featurettes. |

Here are some more information for Off Road Dirt:

When you think of go carts you tend to think of only the little four wheeled carts that run around a track at places you tend to vacation. Beach hot spots always have family friendly activities such as miniature golf and of course the always popular go cart tracks. This is one kind of go carting that we all have tried and love but there are also off road go karts that are much larger and very powerful to say the least. You can also take to a whole other level by actually racing in a circuit with racing carts given you have the talent and some knowledge of the sport.
It typically starts at a young age for most kids. You see that motorized cart while on vacation and then you want one of your own. I know that is how I started. I lived in a family friendly neighborhood that was accessible to woods with trails so we always had dirt bikes and four wheelers running through the neighborhood. Eventually a couple of kids got a go cart and I followed soon after. It was a blast and had I pursued it more I could have started racing at a young age. That is where most kids get into the sport and several Nascar drivers got started that same way and now make a living at driving. Go cart racing is very popular and there are circuits all over the world that you can take part in.
The other side of it is that you can go with off road go carts which are more like ATV buggies that tackle mountains and dirt trails. These all terrain vehicles are go karts on steroids basically. They have much bigger frames and larger balloon tires to tackle rough terrain. Their roll cage is also much larger too so they can be a safer option however with larger frames and accessories comes a larger engine which equals more power. That can always be dangerous as long as you know that safety is the important factor. Seatbelts and helmets must always be a concern during any kind of off road go carting.
You can find all kinds of great deals and go carts for sale online and also at local motorcycle shops and Pep Boys stores nationwide. You can also find go cart parts online and build one yourself to help cut down costs if you have the skills to do so.
Simple Guidelines When Buying Dirt Bikes
The popularity of dirt bikes can never be underestimated. Trade leads can readily attest to the ever growing and constant demand for such motorbikes, which are made and designed for the adventurous and for riders who aim to go to the extremes when riding motorcycles. But buying dirt bikes has never been a simple and ideal task because thee are just too many models and brands available. Furthermore, there are also several specific types of dirt bikes out in the market and riders need to be well acquainted with all those types to be able to determine and get the best deals at good prices.
Just like buying other vehicles or other types of equipment and merchandise, it is imperative that consumers rundown a simple comparison shop prior to any purchase of dirt bikes. In these times when money is hard earned, consumers need to be extra careful and choosy when selecting dirt bikes to purchase. Though trade leads are offering and presenting numerous models, brands and types of dirt bikes, it is imperative that consumers be intelligent enough to discern and choose the best there are across the market.
Here are some simple guidelines that would help any buyer choose and buy the best and appropriate dirt bikes available in the market.
1. Trade leads provide the best and most reliable details and information about available dirt bikes in the market. Consumers should always be reminded that such online sites are almost always accurate and are very informative. Trade leads contain information about the specific type of engine found in every dirt bike as well as other information like chain drives, batteries and others. There are also embedded and attached photographs as well as applicable tag prices for further reference.
2. Dirt bikes are naturally leaner and lighter in weight than conventional and usual motorcycles. It is also natural that dirt bikes have small engines, but are also at the same time powerful. When buying dirt bikes, especially at trade leads, pay particular attention to such information as those would be pertinent and important to you. Dirt bikes are not as sturdy as normal motorcycles, but their structure must be specifically fitted and designed to be appropriate for driving at offroad or dirt roads. Power also matters a lot.
3. The best dirt bikes are those designed and manufactured by the most reliable brands or motorcycle makers. There are cheaper brands and types, but most experts advise riders against preferring those because usually, quality and safety are compromised especially when low-class and substandard materials are made in the assembly of such vehicles to cover for low and affordable tag prices.
4. For beginners, second hand dirt bikes are more recommended because they are cheaper in terms of costs, plus, you starters inevitably would be incurring scratches and damages to the vehicles as part of the learning process. Trade leads are also widely and actively listing such used dirt bikes so for sure, you would not have any problem over finding those merchandise.

Hey i'm looking for a dirt bike but i don't know what to get a motocross or off road?
Hey i'm looking for a dirt bike but i don't know what to get a motocross or off road?
me and my friends are getting dirt bikes but we don't know what to get off road or motocross. with the dirt bike we will be going to the sand duns, trail riding, off roding and on motocoss tracks... does it mater what kind you get?
Don't listen to s0c0m9 or Tim. Neither of them are qualified to give answers. Auburn is qualified to give you an answer to your question. And I agree with everything she says. Your age, height, weight, and riding experience has a lot to do with determining what bike you need. You are obviously a beginner and have little knowledge of bikes, so you need something easy to ride. 2 wheel bikes just are not the thing for sand dunes. If you are going to be doing both motocross and trail riding, you need a bike that will do both. Since you have no experience, a Honda CRF 150 is probably what you need. Make sure you have a spark arrestor silencer that will pass a 94 db sound test on your bike when trail riding.
Poor communication cited in LA firefighter deaths
Poor communication and unexpected fire conditions probably caused the deaths of two firefighters whose truck plunged off a mountain road during last year's huge wildfire in the mountains above Los Angeles, a government report concluded.
