Toyota MR2 t-bar or Subaru Imprezza (non turbo)?

I currently have a VW golf TDI. Im looking for a car that i can modify in terms of BHP and engine output.

i cant afford to get a mr2 GTS or an impreza sti as insurance is just too high.

i have looked at the standard AWD GX subaru and the Toyota MR2 t-bar.

which is better in terms of performance and possible upgrades

Ok glad to see your getting rid of the dirty diesel lol ! Get the t-bar, there so much better than the subaru, more reliable, much better handling subaru will drink the petrol you give it where as the toyota will just sip quietly, performance parts are a lot cheaper and IF anything goes wrong with it spare parts are alot cheaper than subaru parts. Yes Subaru's do sound sweet but stick a twin exit exhaust on the mr2 and they sound they dog's dangleys! I have had a subaru sti and mr2 T-bar there is just no comparing them, the mr2 is the one you should go for.
As for modifying and getting more power get it chipped, a nice air filter and a bigger diamiter exhaust and you will be laughing at subaru drivers and you will thank me and anyone else who says get the Mr2 lol
