If you own a car then at some point you will have had to replace its battery. It may have failed at a most inconvenient time (don't they always.) Total cost of a failed battery can quickly mount up. Not just the cost of a replacement, but also of recovery, if it failed you whilst you were away from home. Before you replace your battery however, did you know that with a little knowledge and a few simple tools, and chemicals, you can easily restore a car battery to its former glory? Plus by doing it you will become more aware of its condition. This will help you to avoid future unexpected and inconvenient surprise failures.

Here are three basic tips to help you to understand your battery, and to restore it back to a healthy condition. You will save yourself some money too!

First, you need to establish if the battery is worth restoring. It really is most essential that you check the voltage of your battery, and that you do this the right way. You should undertake the test this way, take a hand held volt meter and connect it to the battery posts, negative to negative, and positive to positive. If your battery voltage reads 12 volts you will know the battery cells are all in working order. Should you neglect it or neglect to pay attention, you may be facing trying to restore a battery that could have faulty cells, and will never perform as it should.. If your battery reads 10 or 8 volts, or less, then it's likely you have a problem with one or more of the batteries cells.

Second, you'll want to check each cell individually by probing each cell individually. The probe that can be made with a length of metal that conducts electricity, (a length old wire coat-hanger will do.) Connect one of them to the positive of your meter and one to the negative. Now put the positive in the fluid reservoir hole nearest to the positive terminal post of the battery, and the negative in the next one along, continue up the battery moving each probe one hole along each time, until you reach the end. Each cell should read 2 volts. This is critical, and is going to be crucial in determining whether you succeed or fail. It is necessary for these reasons: any reading under 2 volts is likely to be a faulty cell. Failing to do this will likely mean you waste your time on a battery that can not be restored.

Third, you have to remember to fill each cell with deionized water, and re test. If you still have a faulty cell or low voltage then move on to another battery. If all is well then now you can add a battery electrolyte fluid solution additive to each cell, (available on line or from a car parts store.) Now it only remains to fully recharge your battery using a suitable 12v battery charger. Your battery should now perform like new.

Follow these three suggestions to easily restore a car battery, and you'll most probably succeed and enjoy every one of the rewards and benefits that restored car battery can bring you. Ignore them and the prediction is not good. It's up to you. Fail to follow these tips and your car battery will almost certainly remain unreliable, and may let you down...

If you want to to discover more about how to restore or recondition old batteries that you thought were dead, and were going to throw away. Go to the recondition old batteries guide. Take a look at http://howtoreconditionoldbatteries.blogspot.com/ for more information.

Ipad Brand Falls Short Of Apple’S New Product

iPod. iMac. iPhoto. There’s no denying the cachet that Apple has built around an iconic range of products in the last decade. But if you’re Apple and you want your newest product to be construed as new, what do you name it? Maybe iPad wasn’t the best choice.

Starting with the already belabored point, it comes as no surprise (at least to many, if not the name-creating wizards at Apple) that when three quarters of the product’s name is comprised of “Pad,” some unwanted associations may be unavoidable. As the branding guru Michael Cronan pointed out, “It’s always those kinds of words that are suggestive of feminine menstruation”, and Stephen Colbert surmised that the most likely alternative to the name “iPad” must have been the “TamPod”, with “iPad” narrowly taking the win. This isn’t to say that poorly chosen names haven’t cropped up before: it wasn’t long ago when you could stroll into Ford dealership and buy not only a Mustang or an Explorer, but also…a Probe. Try impressing girls at the bar by telling them about your Probe in the parking lot. Product names matter. Enough said.

To the point though: Does the name really matter?

While some could see the benefit of the iPad’s awkward naming for its unique ability to “enable Twitter users to make the same joke over and over and over again” as The Onion believes, what amounts to a silly connection may just be that: the equivalent of technology tabloid fodder. Many belittle Apple’s nomenclature issues, but the fact that such a discussion has arisen leads one to realize something: Though name is only one ingredient in building a strong brand it can’t be ignored that name can convey not just simple messages, like the name “Pad” being used to describe Apple’s…well…pad-shaped product, but that a name can be important in conveying complex messages.

To say the least, the iPad is full of impressive technology. From the processor bringing more speed and better graphics with less power usage, to the large screen and slick OS, the iPad is interesting for sure. It’s a good piece of kit. But as questions are answered, they are raised just the same: No camera? No multitasking? Do people want a ten inch computer that doesn’t have a keyboard? Shouldn’t it have Flash? Will it eat my lesser technological devices to sustain itself?

Maybe a name that imbued a sense of technological revolution, a sense of mystery, or a sense of innovation would have been more appropriate then. Given that much of the criticism directed towards the iPad has been concerned with the notion that there’s really not much new, a name that could by itself suggest something new would sit better with the public. The iVolution. The iSexy. The iSmooth. Well, not say a better name is easy to come by, but given the resemblance just in name to the ever-present...

what is the best vortech supercharger for 99-04 pi mustang gt?

I have a 1996 Mustang gt. I have been building a motor for my car this past year and so far I have a 4.6L block bored .020, with a crank thats rated at about 600 hp (its not forged) with forged H-beam rods and Forged Probe pistons. I will soon be buying the 99-04 PI head kit. I have decided that the vortech supercharger is going to be the best for me (I wish I could afford a kenne bell but the price just seems out of the question) so my question is what vortech supercharger kit would get me around 450 hp. I see only one on American Muscle that gives around 405hp but that does not seem like a smart choice buying a supercharger from AM. Also with my bottom end what would be a safe psi to run,and i want the SC to really scream. I know I have a lot of questions; when it finally comes to buying a supercharger I really want it to be the right one. links would be awesome.
Note: running stock compression for 99-04 GT

There's nothing wrong with buying a supercharger from American Muscle. If the price is good it's a great choice. They're a huge Mustang supplier. Don't go by how much hp it says it will make. That is not a written in stone factual rating. Go by the size of the compressor and how much boost(psi) range it has. A smaller compressor will be working harder and spinning faster to produce the same amount of boost a larger one will. A medium sized compressor is advised for street use with a medium amount of hp over stock(about 100-200hp over).
You didn't mention the compression you're running. That's important. A supercharger needs relatively lower compression. If the compression is too high then you will fry the engine. And in general the more boost you run the greater the chance for doing major engine damage regardless of compression. If you have the bottom end to support it(ALL forged parts is recommended for supercharged applications especially at high hp levels) and you KNOW that the rebuild is absolutely perfect then running 10 psi is fine for the street. Any higher than that and you're pushing the limits of reliability and safety for your engine especially with a cast crank. They sell different pulleys to adjust the boost the compressor puts out so getting the right compressor is important.
Go on Summit Racing to get a better idea of what's out there. Also, go on the Vortech and Paxton websites to see what is actually made for your application. Then, do a general internet search to find the sites with the best deal while making sure they are a good reliable seller to buy from.

Needless deaths in float plane crash shake up the industry
Curiously, it's not unusual for both federal and provincial government employees, including pilots, to wear life-jackets when working on aircraft over water. The Transport Canada media relations office confirmed: "As best practice, depending on the type of aircraft operations, the majority of our pilots wear a life-jacket or personal flotation device when flying over water."
