The Acura Integra is a very unique car. It is no longer in factory production, but they are still very popular and somewhat valuable in comparison to similar cars of their time. Today people are pushed to build this car, along with many other Asian imports, farther than its stock capabilities. Honda produced not only four generations, but other models within these generations. This allows for a great deal of conversions between models.
The Acura Integra, along with many other Asian import cars is very capable of aftermarket modifications. People pour in thousands of dollars to restore their Integra back to its pristine condition, and some do more than this, full motor and transmission swaps, new rims, body kits, suspension work, and other restorations are seen in cars everyday.
The First Production
Produced:1986-1989
The first production of Acura's Integra, in 1986, featured a very boxy body style. On it were pop-up headlights and smooth straight lines in its design similar to many other cars produced in the 1980s. It came with a four-cylinder 1.6L engine DOHC [Dual Over-Head Cam.] This engine is commonly known as a D16. Which gave the first Integra 115hp. The car itself was very popular and was known to be quick and sporty as well as having great handling in comparison to Honda's other models of the time.
The Second Prodcution
Produced: 1989-1993
The second production of the Integra was equally as sporty and more modern and took on an early 90's style. The body was very similar in design to the car before it, but this Integra had a new front end with rectangular headlights and a new engine available, the B18, a 1.8L 4Cylinder engine which gave this Integra 140 hp. Many people know this generation of the Integra as the "DA." This is correct, but technically the first generation Integra could also be called a "DA Integra" all because of the model types.
The Third Production of the Integra, the DC2
Produced: 1994-2001
The DC2 Integra was different from the Integras before it, it no longer featured the square body style but took on a very sleek and round look. The car one again got a new front end featuring two round headlights on each side of the car. The car was cleaned up and had many luxuries added to some models such as electric sunroofs, power windows, and power locks.
The Type R Integra was produced in 1997 which was very sporty and featured a four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine which red lined at 7900 rpms this was Honda's Japanese race car. The first Type R's were only produced in Japan as right hand drive cars.
Brake Rotors: Drilled vs. Slotted vs. Drilled & Slotted
One of the most important components on your vehicle is the brake system. When it comes to stopping on a dime under performance or harsh driving conditions, a solid set of high-grade brakes is a must. Performance brakes feature rotors that are drilled, slotted or both. But which is better?
To understand that, the first thing you should consider is what the addition of a set of performance brake parts means in terms of stopping power. Slotted rotors are one of the biggest contributors when it comes to the increased stopping power, which is why they're found on almost every racecar from Laguna Seca to Nurburgring. This feature allows a more rapid cooling of the braking surface for increased performance and added bite. And, in wet weather, they channel water away from the braking surface by allowing it to pass more freely through the holes. This not only adds to the overall performance, but it also prevents the dangerous loss of braking power that comes with waterlogged brakes. You get maximum stopping ability no matter how wet the terrain. In addition to performance, slotted rotors are cross-drilled and fill more of the space behind the wheel to provide a tougher, filled-in look.
When deciding which is best for you, consider fade characteristics, pedal feel and lining wear. It goes without saying that performance-grade rotors, like Integra rotors, Acura TL rotors or RSX rotors, are far superior to their stock counterparts. But exactly how much better are they? Well, fade tests have shown a 37 percent better brake output for drilled rotors over slotted parts, with the drilled rotor brake operating about 150 degrees cooler.
Pedal force was also reported to be far more consistent with drilled rotors across the entire brake temperature range. In other words, the driver doesn't need to apply additional force to achieve a stop when the brakes operate at higher temperatures. This provides additional safety through added brake response and also helps reduce driver fatigue.
Finally, one of the most important things to consider is lining wear. Slotted rotors weren't able to keep up in this category either, with tests showing 20 percent more wear on pads with slotted rotors than their drilled counterparts. One possible solution is to pair a set of slotted rotors with a set of performance brake pads. Designed to withstand the rigors of high-output racing, performance-grade brake pads provide a direct replacement for stock pads and surpass their lesser counterparts in durability by 20 - 40 percent. They're actually proven to last longer, stop faster and are virtually noise-free.
So, what it boils down to is this: are you racing or navigating city streets? Slotted rotors, like those produced by Brembo or Baer, are shown to aid in the efficient removal of gas, water and debris from under the pad. But, depending on where you're driving, these conditions may not be present in your everyday commute. This would make drilled rotors, currently found on the Corvette, Ford GT, Porsche, Mercedes and BMW, the better choice for city streets and freeways.

Help Oil Light blinking!?
I just took my car in yesterday and the oil was changed etc. It was left outside last night and it's -42C (-43.6F) here where I live. When I picked it up the oil light was blinking all the way over to where I work (15 minutes away)... the engine heat gauge just made it above the bottom line when I got to work because it was so cold. My car is a 99' Acura Integra. The E-brake light was also on even though my E-brake was not actual in use but this went off after driving for 10 mins. I let my car "warm up" for 7 minutes this morning before I left the auto shop but it was blinking from the moment I turned on the vehicle. Is there something wrong with the car or is the sensor mixed up because possibly some of the oil could have kind of thickened and the pump is having a hard time. What do you think?
Your oil light should only come one when you have no or low oil pressure or low oil level.
The first thing you should have done was turn off the engine and check the oil level. Did they actually fill your engine back up with the proper amount of oil. If it was ok, restart your car.
Secondly, -44F is much colder than the 5W30 is supposed to work at. If it gets that cold on a regular basis, consider using a 0W30 or 5W30 full synthetic oil in the winter months. Or a dip stick style oil heater. Almost every oil out there on the market will stop moving at around -40.
At any rate, you shouldn't have driven your car with the oil light on or blinking for any reason. the sensor may have been malfunctioning, but that light indicates that something is wrong with your oil.
It's kinda like you having blood coming out of your jugular vein. You don't just keep on doing what you're doing. You get some medical attention! You were at an auto shop for goodness sake!
I sincerely hope you haven't done any serious damage. And I hope the filled your crankcase with the right oil. If not, I hope you have the money to rebuild your engine.
