Increase Fuel Economy, Power and Acceleration Because no engine is 100% efficient, carbon, resins, and varnishes eventually build up in critical engine components, causing a reduction in fuel economy, power and acceleration. Until now car owners needed to pay for a professional fuel system service to remedy this, which can be very costly. But now 3M has provided do-it-yourself consumers with a great new way to get maximum performance from their vehicles from the convenience of their own home garage, for less than ½ the cost of what they would pay for the same results at a service center, with the 3M Do-it-yourself Fuel System Tune-up Kit. DIY Solution in 3 Easy Steps The 3M Do-it-yourself Fuel System Tune-up Kit combines the strengths of three quality 3M automotive maintenance products into a single fuel system tune-up program that when performed annually, or every 10,000 miles, will improve vehicle performance and gas mileage. These three products are: 3M Do-it-yourself Intake System Cleaner, 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner and 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner. The steps involved in this process are easy to perform and can feasibly be done by a single person, but are more easily achieved with the aid of an assistant behind the wheel at certain stages. Step 1 - 3M Do-it-yourself Intake System Cleaner: Follow the fresh intake hose to the outside of your engine's throttle body. Remove the hose boot clamp where it enters the throttle body with a screw driver to access the throttle plate. Insert the 3M Do-it-yourself Intake System Cleaner's attached hose past the throttle plate and slip the intake hose boot back on. With the help of an assistant, start the car engine while the work area is monitored. When the engine idle reaches 500-1,000 RPM, hold steady at this rate and spray the product's contents into the running engine. This process cleans intake manifolds, valves and combustion chambers. Use the entire can, which may take several minutes. Turn off the engine, remove the product hose and proceed to step 2. Step 2 - 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner: Again, with the help of an assistant, place the vehicle ignition in the "Run" position, but with the engine NOT started, and depress the accelerator to expose both sides of the throttle plate. Spray both sides of the plate, as well as the throttle body with 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner. Wipe excessive cleaner away and/or let wet areas dry for a few minutes with the throttle plate open before you replace the fresh air hose boot, tighten it up. This process cleans your engine's throttle plate and lubricates key pivot areas. Proceed to step 3. Step 3 - 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner: This last step continues the treatment of all critical fuel system components. Add 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner to a full tank, at a recommended delusion ratio of one ounce of additive to each gallon of fuel. Start the engine, allowing it to idle for a few minutes before driving it for 10-15 minutes. 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner cleans injectors, intake valves and an combustion chambers while your engine consumes this tank of gas. Key Features Helps to restore power and save on gas mileage by cleaning air intake and fuel systems Easy, quick three-step procedure is even more simple to perform than an oil change Requires only a few common hand-tools and safety items What's in the Box 1 - 8.75 oz. canister of 3M Do-it-yourself Intake System Cleaner 1 - 4 oz. canister of 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner 1 - 16 fluid oz. bottle of 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner Limitation of Liability Except where prohibited by law, 3M will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this 3M product, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential, regardless of the legal theory asserted, including warranty, contract, negligence or strict liability. Here are some more information for Induction Kit Ford:

Squeezing more power out of your engine is not as difficult or as expensive a task as you might think. Performance chips, performance exhausts, and sport air filters are all easy to install parts that can help your car achieve greater horsepower and torque without sacrificing fuel economy. In addition, a cold air intake can go a long way toward helping your engine perform better without costing you a mint to install. Let's examine why a cold air intake just might be the enhancement your car could use to achieve a greater level of performance.
So, just how does a cold air intake work? I am glad that you asked! A cold air intake is designed to decrease the temperature of the air entering your car to take full advantage of your engine's power. Colder, denser air acts like "food" for your engine, giving it the extra amount of power that it needs to perform optimally.
Are there other benefits of a cold air intake? Yes, namely two: a cold air intake enhances the look of your vehicle's engine bay and it produces an awesome sounding "throaty" intake noise. The intake noise is what tells everyone that your car is not some ordinary stock car, instead you are making a statement that the noise coming from underneath your car's hood matches the power and performance that they will see on the street.
Depending on the manufacturer you select, your new cold air intake is available in an assortment of colors including red, blue, silver, and chrome. Let's just say that the colors developed are meant to draw maximum attention to your engine bay when you pop the hood for everyone to see!
When shopping for a cold air intake for your car, there are several things for you top keep in mind as you narrow down your selection. The following list can help you determine the cold air intake that is right for you:
Manufacturer - There are many companies producing cold air intakes, some are better than others. Injen and K&N are two that are preferred by the aftermarket crowd. Look for those intakes that come with a reusable air filter for the best value.
Performance - Claims for outlandish increases in horsepower should serve as a red flag to you. Modest increases of 10, 15 or 20 horses are certainly reasonable depending on the make and model of your vehicle.
Guarantee - Higher quality intakes carry a warranty that will likely outlast the life of your car. Some even give one million mile guarantees!
Retailers - Prices are literally all over the place. The best prices can usually be found right online with a wholesaler such as The Parts Bin. Shop only those companies who can provide to you online support, free shipping, a toll free number, and a clearly stated price list. Watch out for off shore operators who promise low prices on parts that might not be genuine.
In all, a cold air intake should provide the performance edge your car, truck, van, or SUV needs without taking away from fuel economy. In fact, a cold air intake can actually increase your fuel economy as your engine "learns" to work more efficiently, thus needing less fuel to run.
Matt Keegan writes for The Parts Bin, a retailer of high quality Injen Cold Air Intake, Honda Auto Parts, and K&N Air Filters available to you at deeply discounted prices.
Tune Up Your Car Insurance as Well as Your Car
If you’re a motoring enthusiast, a new piece of kit for your much-loved vehicle is difficult to resist – however, unless you’re careful it could invalidate your car insurance claims.
In January this year, Ford’s RS tuning firm announced it had teamed up with Mountune Performance to offer two new exciting pieces of kit for the Fiesta ST.
The Stage 1 kit (priced at £1,435 plus fitting) includes an engine tweak to produce 162bhp, a new air-induction and exhaust. Stage 2 meanwhile (priced at £1,838 plus fitting) includes the same upgrades but takes the power to 182bhp and includes new camshafts and valve springs.
The only downside is that on top of the price for the kit, these optional extras could bump up the price of your car insurance.
Your chances of gaining cheap car insurance if your car has ‘go-faster stripes’ are greatly reduced because insurers look unfavourably on vehicle modifications seeing them as a hallmark of ‘boy racers’ rather than safe and considerate drivers.
The solution is not to keep your insurer out of the loop, either. If you’ve made a modification to your car and not informed your insurer, then, should an accident occur, your claim could be invalidated.
Insurers demand honesty – your premiums are based on risk factors such as where you live, your driving record and the type of car you drive.
Altering your car alters your insurance. However, that doesn’t mean you have to sit on an inflated quote.
By shopping around for cheap car insurance using a car insurance comparison tool you can make significant savings. So if, after modifications, you’re not happy with what your insurer offers, look for a better deal. Search by manufacturer, such as Ford car insurance, and your savings could be enough to afford a new piece of kit!

Correct Oil for a Ford Fiesta XR2i 1.8 Zetec?
Ford recommend 5w30 semi synesthetic however the car has been slightly modified, decatted, exhaust, chipped, induction kit...
(105 bhp standard, but its now pumping out 135bhp+)
Its driven quite hard, (very hard actually lol) and the occasional track day, so in my opinion 5w30 wont be able to keep up with the extreme tempertures...
So was wondering what the best oil would be?
Thanks
To vent blow by with your hot set up. I would use slick 50w. It will handle the speed way and drag strip. The added make it far slicker than other oil. The engine part run free-er and less heat build up. Do a bit of reading on it.
2003 Ford Falcon BA from Australia and New Zealand - Comments
I bought a 03 BA XR8 nearly a year ago now with 135000 ks on the clock, (now has 152000). From the beginning I noticed how notchy and noisy it was in the tailshaft diff area, but I have got use to it now, and it doesn't seem to affect the power of the car (manual).
