Sounds like you might have a weak oil pump.. But as the motor warms up if the oil is the multi weight like 10/40 or such the oil well thin out as the motor warms up so the oil perisher well go down at idle that's normal. Then the perisher well go back up if you speed the motor up ans the pump is moving faster and well move more oil. My perisher Goes from 65 lbs to 25 lbs by the time my motor warms up..
As long as you have 10 lbs of oil perisher for every 1,000 RPM's you motor is running you should be OK..
