1. Select the container to be used and insure it is in the right condition to hold the fuel securely. Don't use a container that is cracked or damaged because it could create a fire hazard.
2. Fill the container with liquid fuel oil to just below the top of the container.
3. load the wick into the glass tube with it protruding approximately 1/4 inch above the tube.
4. Install the glass tube down into the oil in the container and secure it so that the top of the tube is slightly below the top of the container. The mechanism securing the tube will vary depending on the size and configuration of the top of the container. Sometimes practical holders can be obtained from suppliers and other times an adequate holder must be fashioned by the chandler.
With this understanding of making a basic oil candle now one can consider enhancing it by adding the following to the fuel oil: beads, scents, fruit, marbles, flower petals or any other non-flammable decorative item.
