Here are some more information for Fuel Pressure Regulator:

To understand how nitrous oxide injection impacts and engine, let's examine how an engine works. An engine creates power by transferring energy created by fuel combustion. Combustion is a form of rapid oxidation, which requires oxygen as the name dictates. The amount of oxygen determines how much fuel can be burned, and the more fuel that is burned, the more power is created.
Nitrous Oxide is a chemical that is rich in Nitrogen and Oxygen. Injecting nitrous oxide increases the oxygen density of the intake air. Nitrogen is a cryogenic liquid with a very high vapor pressure. It must be kept at a minimum of 745 psi to remain a liquid at room temperature.
Since the vapor pressure is so high as a liquid at room temperature, when nitrous oxide is released into the atmosphere, there is a very rapid expansion as it metamorphoses from a liquid to a gas. There is a large amount of evaporative cooling that takes place as the liquid evaporates, drastically reducing the temperature of the surrounding air.
When this chemical reaction is added to the intake air of a combustion engine, you get a double effect of an oxygen rich intake charge and supercooled, dense air. The higher air density and oxygen percentages allow for more fuel to burn, creating large amounts of power. This cooler air lowers the chances of premature detonation which can be damaging to internal engine components. Just the cooler air alone can increase horsepower by about 5 percent.
As stated earlier, you must have extra fuel for the combustion to occur properly because with an oxygen rich and dense intake charge, you will find yourself running dangerously lean under the conditions of nitrous oxide injection. To obtain more fuel, there are several tricks that can be done.
First, you can add an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator for nitrous systems. These regulators will clamp the return fuel line under nitrous injection, raising the fuel pressure to the injectors which will provide more fuel. Others have added a fuel cell which is a small additional "tank" of fuel, usually filled with race or higher octane fuel, that will engage and supplement the factory fuel settings to keep the air/fuel ratio in the optimum zone for the maximum amount of power.
You can't just squeeze every ounce of power out of your engine without some fairly major modifications to its internals though. On a standard engine with no modifications, it is recommended to stay within a maximum of 40% of the rated horsepower of your vehicle on the amount of horsepower shots, and keep the shots to less than 10 seconds per shot. More than this on a standard motor and you could get yourself in big trouble. I know of several instances where more than the recommended horsepower shot was used, only at the sacrifice of blown rings or a blown off intake manifold.
There are several types of systems, such as mild street setups, dry single point injection, wet single point injection, direct port injection, and two stage race applications. Be careful in selecting which to use, and be sure to balance it properly with air and fuel. Keep the pedal to the floor and stay TUNED!

Achieving Better Fuel Economy With High Grade Mazda Fuel Injector
To keep up with the existent emission and fuel efficiency laws, Mazda rides are now run by fuel injected engines. To beat more strict requirements, Mazda fuel injector works with a the engine control unit (ECU) to deliver accurate mount of fuel that is to be processed for combustion yielding more power and less fuel wastage. As an electronically controlled valve, the part is supplied with pressurized fuel via the fuel pump. It can actually open and close many times in a second. To operate the injector, it needs to be energized to move the plunger that opens the valve. An electromagnetic device is responsible in controlling and regulating pressure build-up which the injector needs to squirt out fuel through a tiny nozzle. The nozzle atomizes the fuel making it easily burnt as fine mists. The ECU is responsible in calculating the amount of fuel which is to be released via the fuel injector. As the injector is mounted in the intake manifold, they spray fuel directly at the intake valves which are connected to specific sensors that feed inputs to the ECU to arrive with accurate calculations.
Fuel injection is a mechanism that aims to supply engine with accurate amounts of fuel when sustaining smooth operations. Its efficient service significantly reduces fuel wastage and emission levels in yielding excellent air-fuel ratio. Operational benefits to having engine’s equipped with fuel injections system are smoother and more dependable engine response even on quick throttle transitions, more dependable engine starting, lesser effects of extreme ambient temperatures, reduced maintenance intervals, and increased fuel efficiency. Fuel injection systems started when carburetors were replaced with throttle body fuel injection systems. The system works with electronically controlled fuel injector valves as bolt-on replacement for the carburetor. Gradually, the system evolved into a multi-port fuel injection system. The system now has fuel injector for each cylinder to spray fuel right at the intake valve. This modern injection system provides more accurate fuel metering that achieves better fuel economy. With substantial increases to horsepower and torque, engines with modern fuel injection system acquire better responses with powerful performance.
Your Mazda fuel injector plays crucial roles in the functionality and service of fuel injections systems. As the actual part that injects the fuel through the manifold, it needs to be kept in good working conditions to maintain system precision. Injector failure is often caused by the intrusion of contaminants that speed up corrosion and wear rates. At wider range of operating temperature, faultiness and damaged also come inevitably with age. If you already suspect damages to the injector, immediately perform diagnostics to follow it up with timely adjustment or repairs. When you decide to replace your stock Mazda fuel injector, consult a qualified service technician to arrive with excellent results to system maintenance. To select the right injector replacement, you need to make sure that the size and application specifications of the replacement match the original. Normally, naturally aspirated engine will have B.S.F.C. of .50 which means the engine uses .50 lbs. of fuel per hour for each generated horsepower. Turbocharged engine uses .60 lbs or more of fuel per hour. Most injectors could max out an 80-percent duty cycle which is an industry standard.

Does changing the fuel pressure regulator increase gas mileage? ?
I heard that by changing the fuel pressure regulator, then gas mileage might increase. Only of course if the current regulator is malfunctioning. Would anyone have any extra info for this? OR, changing the O2 sensor?
Changing the O2 sensor will make a difference if its been about 40,000 miles or more since it was last replaced, they get old after so long and send bad values to the computer which affects fuel economy. As for the regulator, yes, if its malfunctioning it can bring your economy down, so changing it could help. However, if it is letting slightly (and i mean slightly, maybe 3-5 psi) more pressure through than normal it will cause the fuel to create a better mist from the injectors, causing the fuel to burn more efficiently since the gasoline vapor is way more flammable than the liquid and you could end up with maybe one more mile per gallon.
2003 Renault Laguna Dynamique from UK and Ireland - Comments
Lagunas that cut out for no reason - I have had a problem where when slowing down to a junction or a roundabout, the car would just die, steering go heavy etc. I got used to this, as you sort of half expect it so are ready to press the button to restart the car, However back in February the engine cut to about 3000 revs, and if you pressed the accelerator any more, the WARNING, STOP, Engine ...
