Thule 897XT Hullavator Kayak Roof Rack Mount Carrier List Price: $589.95 Sale Price: $492.70 |
|
The Thule 897XT Hullavator Kayak Roof Rack Mount Carrier is a lift assist carrier that allows for easy side loading and unloading of all sorts of kayaks, including tandems, by a single person. Designed around a combination of retractable double arms that extend down the side of your vehicle from your roof rack and a built-in gas-assisted lifting system, the Hullavator lowers the cradling platform of the carrier by 40-inches and lifts up to 40 lbs of a kayaks weight allowing for easy loading by virtually any single paddler. Additional features include: 8 touch points of padded support, aluminum double coated steel construction for corrosion resistance, accommodation of kayaks up to 34-inches wide and 75 lbs and compatibility with Thule rack systems and round bars. A revolutionary roof rack mount carrier that allows kayaks to be loaded and unloaded by only one person. View larger. A Revolutionary Roof Rack Mount Carrier for Single Paddlers One of the great things about kayaking is that virtually anyone who can dip a paddle into the water can be successful at it, but some paddlers who make the leap to owning their own boat, and thus having to transport it themselves, can find that without the help of a second pair of hands or a certain amount of upper body strength, it can be difficult to lift and lower boats to and from their rooftop racks. Lifting and lowering can also sometimes be a strain for even two pairs of hands in the case of tandem boats. The Thule 897XT Hullavator Kayak Roof Rack Mount Carrier changes all that with an ingenious lift system that allows virtually any single paddler who can raise or angle their boat only a few feet off the ground using a grab handle can secure their boat all the way up to their roof rack in minutes without any help. Effortless gas-assisted lifting system. View larger. Double extending arms lower the kayak cradle base by up to 40 inches. View larger. Double coated steel construction for durability. View larger. The Thule 897XT Hullavator features retractable double arms mounted to your roof rack and an integrated gas-assisted lifting system. The two arms contain cradles and integrated support with eight padded touch points and the aluminum double-coated steel construction. Together these serve as the cradle for your kayak and work with the gas-powered lifting system to lower the height the boat will need to be raised to eventually secure it on your roof rack up to 40-inches. Following installation, a squeeze of an outward facing handle extends each arm individually down the side of your vehicle. Once both are down users can either lift the boat straight up from the outer edge of the cockpit, or carefully lift the boat up at an angle and into the rear cradle by its front grab handle, then lift the boat from the rear grab handle and push it forward until fully supported by and centered between both arms. Once your boat is secured to both cradles with the included straps, attach the bow and stern tiedowns with ratcheting hooks at the end. Now, simultaneously squeeze the handle at the end of each arm to activate the gas-assisted lifting system and the retractable arms and the kayak will rise to the top of your roof rack. The gas-assisted system provides 40 lbs. of the lifting power needed, with you providing the rest as needed with a gentle push. Latch the retracted arms to the carrier with a downward pull of both handles and insert the pin-based safety clip to ensure it stays in place. Finally, attach the ratcheting hooks at the ends of both bow and stern tiedowns to your vehicle bumper or tow hook and pull the free end of the rope to the desired tightness. Unloading a kayak is just as easy with steps repeated in reverse, and again, only requiring a single person. Key Features Gas-assist struts lift and lower 40 lbs of the kayaks weight, allowing only one person to load and unload the kayak Load and unload kayaks are waist level, at the side of the vehicle for greater convenience and safety Double extending arms lower the kayak by up to 40-inches for faster loading and unloading 8 touch points of padded support for maximum protection for your kayak Aluminum, double coated steel construction for corrosion resistance deliver a longer product life Carries 1 kayak and requires only 1 person to load and unload Up to 2 carriers per vehicle Includes all straps to transport 1 kayak Accommodates kayaks up to 34-inches wide and 75 lbs Fits Thule rack systems and round bars only Locks to the base rack load bars using a two pack of Thule locks (sold separately) Specifications Carry Type - Horizontal Load Capacity Water Craft - 1 kayaks Factory Rack Mounting - No Fits Aero Profile - Yes Fits square bar - Yes Lockable - Yes One Key System Compatible - No What's in the Box Thule 897XT Hullavator Kayak Roof Rack Mount Carrier, instructional guide and warranty information. About Thule Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life. Raising the bar (literally) for lift assist carriers, the Hullavator lifts up to 40lbs of a kayaks weight and allows side of vehicle loading. |

Here are some more information for Front Lower Tie:

Many people assume that a black tie wedding is the most formal type of event that there is. Actually, this is not the case; the white tie wedding is the most elegant and formal. Properly held only in winter evenings, these weddings are the pinnacle of style for a wedding celebration.
Everything about a white tie wedding should be as elegant as possible, from the location to the attire to the menu. The event should only be held after dark, which is why they are reserved for winter weddings that begin at 6pm or later. For the venue, think opulence. A grand cathedral would be ideal for the ceremony. The reception should be hosted in a formal and luxurious venue, such as the grandest ballroom in the swankiest hotel in town.
The formality of a white tie wedding begins with the invitation. Select an ultra-conservative white or ecru invitation with either a triple embossed panel design or a gold border. The wedding invitation wording should definitely be engraved, and this is a time to use a very ornate script font. The words used on the invitation should be traditional, not creative or modern, and the notation "White tie" should appear in the lower right hand corner, opposite the R.s.v.p. line on the left.
So what does it actually mean to dress in white tie attire? The gentlemen will wear a very formal tuxedo with a cutaway jacket and a white bowtie. Top hat and gloves are optional. For the ladies, such a grand occasion is an opportunity to wear something really fabulous, from the bride on down.
The bride should choose a gown with a full ballskirt, a long train, and ornate details. Silk satin would be the ideal fabric, or you could even opt for white silk velvet, since a white tie wedding will be in the winter. This is the time to adopt a "more is more" philosophy. A gown with heavy silver embroidery and lavish beading on both the bodice and the hem would be perfect for such a grand occasion. Accessories matter, too. Look for spectacular pieces such as custom bridal Swarovski necklaces. A sparkling Swarovski crystal necklace that can be custom made to coordinate with the special details on your bridal gown will help to pull your entire ensemble together. And don't forget the long white gloves, which are de rigeur for the bride at a white tie affair.
A white tie wedding will also give you an excuse to design some fabulous decor for your reception. Elaborate crystal chandeliers will cast the perfect glow. Either seek out a venue that has them, or rent some and suspend them over each dinner table. Custom ordered linens will make your tablescape upscale. A rich brocade with metallic thread would be magnificent. Set the table to perfection with sparkling cut crystal and fine china that is handpainted with gold trim.
And then there are the flowers. They should be plentiful and very ornately arranged. Loads of roses overflowing from tall silver vases are gorgeous. You can even go with a fanciful tablescape that features a small tree created from gold or silver painted branches. Decorate it with hanging crystal teardrops and fresh orchids for a centerpiece that will truly impress. The most traditional color for the flowers would be white, but a deep red or even an eggplant color would be equally stunning.
Pop the cork on the Champagne, dish out the caviar, and you will be ready to get your fabulous white tie wedding underway. It is a marvelous way to celebrate the start of a new marriage. One thing is certain: there is nothing more stylish than a grand white tie wedding.

English Half Windsor Silk Tie Knot
Falling in the same category as the Windsor, the Half-Windsor enjoys a professional prestige and polished reputation; however, it's not quite as bulky, which makes it a better option for narrower collars and softer shirts.
The most traditional way of tying a half windsor knot is -
1. Place the silk tie around your shoulders, top-side up, with the fat end hanging roughly a foot lower than the skinny end.
2. Cross the fat portion over the skinny end to make an X fairly close to your neck (around the second shirt button).
3. Pull the fat end behind the thin end to the right, then up in front of it and down through the neck loop.
4. Pull the fat end over from right to left, overlapping your evolving knot.
5. Pull the fat end up through the loop again, behind what now looks like a nearly complete knot.
6. Bring the fat end back down and insert it through the knot.
7. Finish your knot by tightening it; again, accentuate that dimple.
Another modern way to tie this knot is -
1. Place the tie around your neck and cross the broad end of the tie in front of the narrow end.
2. Fold the broad end behind the narrow end and bring it forward on the opposite side. The left and right sides of the narrow end, and the inside of the loop around your neck, form a triangle.
3. Continue folding the tie over the sides of this triangle, rotating around the triangle in one direction. The sixth fold should bring the broad end up over the top of the knot from behind; push the end down through the loop in front of the knot between the fourth and fifth folds, work out any wrinkles, and pull the knot tight.
4. If the tie is unbalanced, untie the knot and try again giving yourself more or less length to work with.

Decent price for front suspension work (tie rods, ball joints, bushings)?
The vehicle is a 1997 ford E150 cargo van. I've been told the same thing by a few shops as far as needing them, and the play in the tie rods, drag link, ball joints was obvious. Outer tie rod actually died today and luckily I was in a parking lot. But I'm convinced that it's best to replace these parts now.
Inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints(left and right), bushings, and an alignment... no need for shocks or coils. What's a decent price? What's an insane price?? Thanks.
If you DIY, you'll need a ball joint press. Don't simply hammer in new ball joints, that's the work of a hack. It is something you can do yourself, if you're mechanically inclined, but without the proper tools it is time consuming. Also, you'll need a front end alignment after everything is replaced. I'd also wonder about the condition of your tires after driving around with those worn out parts. Around $1000 to $1500 depending on labor rate is a rough estimate.
Lee brilliant in debut, but M's fall in 12 to Rangers
Elvis Andrus scored from third on a wild pitch by Brandon League to break a scoreless tie in the top of the 12th inning and the Texas Rangers beat the mistake-prone Mariners 2-0 Friday night, spoiling Cliff Lee's sterling Seattle debut.
