will shampooing carpet destroy the beautiful hard wood floor under it?
I had to put carpet over my beautiful hard wood floor cuz of my kids and it needs to be cleaned but I'm worried getting the carpet that wet will warp or turn the wood under it colors. Is it ok for me to shampoo the carpet without doing damage to the wood floor?
P.S. the carpet has only the built in foam pad that comes with it and not a regular carpet pad under it.
the carpet is a 12' X 16' piece.. I paid 250 for it 3 months ago so i really don't want to add anymore money to it and don't want to buy a new piece being it's only 3 months old
If the floor is sealed and/or treated, no, but why take the chance. Don't use the wet carpet cleaning method. There are "dry" alternatives that work better and are safer for the family, pets, and carpet so that if the carpet is protected, it won't void the warranty.
