Lo carb diets are the newest dieting trend, and seem to be effective. Here are some tips for following a balanced lo carb diet:
Eat more fruit and vegetables, aiming for at least five portions a day. Include fruit at breakfast and salad at lunch. Reduce the amount of salt by eating less processed food, such as ready meals, and adding a smaller amount of salt to food. Eat a varied diet. Change your shopping list every week to help keep you out of unhealthy food ruts and make eating more enjoyable. Eat regular meals -
although it doesn't matter when you eat your food, a consistent schedule helps most people to control their diet and their weight. Control your portion sizes so that over time, if not necessarily every day, the amount of energy you consume matches your level of activity. Try to be more physically active. Aim for 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week. Activity helps to regulate your appetite, and means that you can eat more without gaining weight. Drink alcohol only within sensible limits: not more than 14 units per week for women, and no more than three in any one day, and not more than 21 units per week for men, and no more than four in any one day.
The current most popular fad diet is the Lo Carb or Atkins diet. It restricts carbohydrate rich foods, thereby restricting total daily calories. Phase One of the four in the Atkins Diet consists of between 1400 to 1500 total daily calories. The average adult female consumes around 2200 calories daily and the average adult male consumes around 2800 calories daily. Almost any adult will lose weight if they consume 800 to 1300 fewer calories daily. Phase One of the Atkins Diet also restricts carbohydrate intake to only 20 grams of net carbohydrates daily. The definition of net carbohydrates is total grams of carbohydrates per serving minus dietary fibre per serving. Dietary fibre is the non-digestible remains of plant products found in beans, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
Carbohydrates are the body's preferred fuel source. In the near future there will be a recommended dietary allowance, or R.D.A., for carbohydrates of 130 grams daily. 130 grams of carbohydrates our body needs daily is for the proper functioning of the central nervous system and production of red blood cells. Only during Phase Four of the Atkins Diet are participants allowed up to 120 grams of net carbohydrate daily. Low carbohydrate diets are nothing new, they have been around since the 1860's and the Atkins Diet first came out in the early 1970's.
Most nutrition experts agree that to be successful in weight loss a person needs to keep the weight off for 5 years. Over 90% of people who take weight off through a fad diet like the Atkins Diet gain the weight back in less than one year. Participants on the Atkins Diet lose between 10 to 12 pounds in the first several weeks but this is only water loss, not fat. One pound of fat contains 3500 calories. Therefore to lose 10 pounds of fat in several weeks you would need to consume 35,000 fewer calories or burn 35,000 calories more through exercise. Neither is likely to happen.
So, the best way to lose weight and become more healthy is to eat a balanced diet. Don't cut out all your carbs, but don't go overboard with them either. In addition to eating well, exercise in a proportional amount to what you are eating. Exercising too much is as bad as exercising too little.

Lose Weight Low Carb Diets - there are pitfalls
Many people are interested to know if there are lose weight low carb diets that they should concentrate on and also what type of workout will give them the body they want and how do they go about achieving this? Gaining the body we want requires a two pronged approach of both exercise and diet. Whatever program you utilise will not cannot conquer unhealthy eating.
Often people look into a starting a workout program in order to lose weight, even more so than trying to improve their health or fitness levels. By concentrating on working out to reduce weight without looking at the diet will make it difficult to lose weight.
The ideal program will contain both elements of nutrition and exercise to lose fat, improve fitness, and lower health risk. Newspapers, magazines, and the Internet have covered a diet comprised of different portions of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
They have recommended high carbohydrate, low fat, high protein, and more recently the lose weight low carb diets. Nevertheless our genetics allows us to overcome the changes. The balance required involves consuming sufficient energy for efficient muscle function, while not consuming excess that is layed down as fat.
We need to provide the energy for our muscles so that they have sufficient prior to exercise and enough to recover afterwards without breaking down muscle to provide needed energy.
Basically protein is utilised in growing and restoring muscle, carbohydrates give the oomph. and fat gives the hormones required. All 3 factors are important to well being and in being able to live a healthy way of life. How-ever if we are short of carbohydrates our muscles can use fat and protein for the energy needed.
On a slightly higher level, our muscles get energy from adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which in the main comes from glucose. Storage occurs in the liver, and also in the muscles, as glycogen. When a muscle contracts anaerobically it can utilize the glycogen stored in the muscles directly and forms ATP. Only small amounts are stored and when used up leads to muscle failure.
When muscles are used aerobically ATP is produced, in the main from glucose, and is accessible straight away. The body then moves to use fatty acids, stored in fat cells, to provide fuel before moving to anaerobic methods to provide energy.
Therefore the common perception in the health sector is that the lose weight low carb diets are not a good combination with working out. In fact many marathoners will load up with carbs prior to setting out. If we do not have carbohydrates available for our muscles to use then fatty acids will have to be used to source glucose. This is a precursor to ATP which our muscles can use.
This process is not as efficient as glycogenesis which uses glucose to provide energy. People mistakenly think that the use of these fatty acids by the body has led to genuine weight loss.
How-ever, mostly, it is not weight loss that we are after but fat loss. By not feeding the muscles much of the early weight loss will come from the muscle loss instead of the desired drop in fat. But in fact muscles need to be retained at least, and preferably increased, as the fat declines.
The aim is usually to reduce the fat layer rather than to just lose weight. what we are hoping to achieve is an adjustment in bodily constitution so that fat becomes a smaller proportion. Not many people would complain about having too much muscle!
The lose weight low carb diets are not a long term strategy for a healthy body even though we may be happy with the initial results on the scales. As a generalisation muscle mass will be at risk of also being lost which won't help reach the objective.

Stalling Briggs and Stratton, will only run on half choke.?
I have an 18hp V-twin Vanguard engine. It's about 15 years old. It's been sitting for awhile and just did some work on it. Changed plugs, filters(air, fuel, oil, tranny). Fuel pump is working and I've also bypassed it and gravity feed the carb with same reaction.
I have remove the carb and cleaned it well, soaking it and blowing it out. The spark plugs are also fouled(dry) which also tells me it's starving for fuel. I just don't want to but a rebuild kit and put a bunch of money into it if it's internal.
Thanks
brand new spark plus.
Forgot to mention the it idles fine. It will idle all day. Just when I throttle up it stalls. If I halk choke or quarter choke it I can throttle up to 90%-100%.
float is sticking
