Le Creuset Screwpull Professional Lever Corkscrew S1700-31 Sale Price: $79.95 |
|
Equipped with a newly designed, long-lasting screw, this famous lever-action cork puller can now open 2,000 bottles of wine uninterrupted (meaning you don't need to replace the screw). That alone makes this a great gift for wine enthusiasts. But the great-gift factor ratchets up because the wine opener comes in a handsome black case as part of a set with Screwpull's foil cutter. Operating the wine opener is a kick. Swing the lever open, grip the bottleneck with the handles, swing the lever closed, and watch the screw penetrate the cork. Now take the lever back to the open position, and the cork comes out of the bottle. As an added flourish, you can use the handles to grip the cork while you swing the lever open again, pulling the Teflon-coated screw from the cork and softly into the operator's hand. This tool is precisely engineered, and comes with a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack Once you try Le Creuset's Screwpull Lever Model corkscrew, you'll never want to use another wine opener. This is the granddaddy of corkscrews: it's easy to use, with a good heft, and a clean extraction, so you won't see another nubbin of cork in your wine. Packaged in an attractive case, and accompanied by a matching foil cutter, the Screwpull Lever Model is easier to use than its mechanical appearance might suggest. After removing the foil, simply grip the bottle with the two handles, then push the lever down so that the Teflon-coated screw sinks into the cork. Raise the handle and the cork comes with it! To release the cork, pull the handle back down, squeeze the cork, and pull the handle back up. The cork drops easily. The extra-long, Teflon-coated screw can tackle tight, old, and long corks without tearing or shredding--and you won't turn red in the face from wrestling the wine bottle in front of your guests! The Screwpull Lever Model is enjoyed and trusted by wine aficionados the world around for its elegance and ease of use. Your wine cellar deserves one, too. --Rebecca Staffel Great gift idea for wine enthusiasts / Teflon coated worm allows cork to be removed with ease / Cork won't crumble or break / Foilcutter / BLACK Won't absorb odors or flavors and resists moisture absorption Enameled surface makes it easy to clean and scratch resistant |

This is the fastest growing segment of the Interior Design industry. Sustainable design is about creating healthier spaces and improving its effect on people and on the environment. Using recycled materials, Low VOC paints, water efficient appliances and fixtures, solar powered products, and locally procured materials are just some of the ways you can go green. The more you become educated on green design, the more you will want to start giving back to our environment.
GOING GREENER
In addition to the ideas above, there are a host of other options for making your bathroom even greener. While these will add additional cost, they promise a significant return on investment.
Tank less hot water heaters - While these can add several hundred dollars to your bill, tank less water heaters use 20 percent less energy than traditional water heaters, paying for the extra up-front cost in just a few years.
Water Flow-Low-flush toilets and low-flow shower heads help to ensure conservation by restricting the volume of water involved in each flush or during each shower. Also consider cutting back your "hours in the shower" for optimal conservation.
Full Load-Using an updated and energy-efficient washing machine, in addition to washing full loads, can drastically improve water conservation. Energy-efficient front-loaders can cut water consumption by almost 40%!
Scrub-A-Dub-If you have access to a dishwasher, by all means, use it! New, energy-efficient models can conserve water, compared with hand washing, by up to half. Try for a full load of dishes each time. If a small load is being washed, look for features on your machine that will allow you to adjust the water setting to accommodate a smaller load.
Did you know... Paint and sealers cover a large amount of surface area in any building, and therefore have a significant impact on indoor air quality. There are two major types of paint products: solvent-based oil paints and water-based paints. Solvent-based paints contain large amounts of toxic chemicals and produce a great deal of hazardous vapors. To sustain a healthy work environment, choose only low-VOC, solvent-free paints, adhesives, sealants and counter tops.
What's Hot...Bamboo Flooring, Recycled Glass & Metal tile, Cork flooring, & Resin Panels.

I need a good craft for a vintage washboard?
I found a great antique washboard at a yard sale over the weekend. I had the idea to turn it into a "message center" with a piece of cork at the top and magnets on the metal part. Has anyone out there done anything else fun and creative with a vintage washboard??
I think that's a great idea! I've also seem people cross stitch a rectangular inset and put it at the top of the board, back it with cotton batting..that is cute too.
