I noticed my check engine light came on a couple of times when I accellerated quickly passing another vehicle. What exactly does the speed chip on the 2005 Dodge Neon SXT do?
Just curious. It came stock with the vehicle and someone had told me that it limited me to 90mph. While on a road trip, i touched 115 for a min or two :p So that theory failed. Im guessing its just some sort of stock performance chip. Specs anyone?
*just added* I mention "Chip" because that was on the "specs" sticker that shows EPG and everything the car has. All it says is "Speed Chip"

The Neon is limited to 118 mph. Dodge vehicles don't use a "chip", it is a computer. A stock Neon will not have a performance computer from the factory. To upgarde to high performance computer for more power etc., check at Hypertech or Jet Performance or Mopar websites.
