In the eleventh hour, your best friend who's getting married is in tears.
The professional she hired to photograph her wedding bailed. You happen to have a digital SLR and all of a sudden you're it. Here's my survival guide for you.
1. Make a "Shot List".
Think of this as your "storyboard."
A guide to the different scenes you want to see if you were doing a movie.
This shot list will break down what you might concentrate on in the 3 phases of any wedding: preparations, ceremony and reception.
It's your cheatsheet on the order of the events, various arrangements for the formal portraits, so go over this with the couple.
2. Shoot lots of candids.
Just because you have everyone bossing you around, telling you to take their picture, it doesn't mean you have to pose all your subjects in every picture.
3. Scout out the location.
If the ceremony, reception and preparations are all at one location, then you can thank your lucky stars. Count on starting your day with the bride wherever she plans to get dressed. She may do this at the church or at home, so count on knowing the route.
4. Borrow or rent a second camera body similar to the one you own.
Since you'll be working quickly, having identical camera bodies will allow you change settings faster. Consider renting identical flash units if you don't have one. Never shoot a wedding with just one camera. Always have a backup. If you have to rent more memory cards and batteries for the cameras, do so.It will be worth your piece of mind.
5. Shoot closeups or details
Be on the lookout for tight shots of the diamond rings, bouquet of flowers, party favors, textures on the bride's gown et cetera. These will make good backdrops for albums and backgrounds for DVD menus. These detail pictures will also give you variety in your coverage.
6. Do as many of the formal group portraits beforehand.
If the couple is open to this and don't mind seeing each other before the ceremony, do as many of the formals portraits beforehand.
7. Enlist the help of Maid-of-honor.
Women like this role more often than men. (Must be their maternal instincts)
The Maid-of-honor is usually more than happy to help. If you don't hit it off with her, try the Best Man.
8. Establish a rapport with the DJ & Wedding Coordinator.
Get to know the DJ & Wedding Coordinator. Being on the same page with both of them means you will be scrambling and out of position for the toast, the bouquet toss, the garter toss, the first dance and so on.
9. Be considerate of the other guests.
Even though what you're doing is important, don't be obnoxious. If another guest is in your way, ask politely for them to move.
10. Don't forget to enjoy yourself.
You can't be expected to be everywhere especially if this is your 1st wedding. Generally speaking, once the ceremony and the formal portraits are done, you can catch a breather. The rest of the proceedings will not happen without the DJ & wedding coordinator consulting you if you followed tip #8.
Remember if you're not having fun taking pictures, your images will reflect that.

What Are Scuba Diving Basic Rules?
To get close to the nature is the beauty of scuba diving . It can be tremendous fun and you learn a lot about underwater creatures and life.
Men and women can do this type of diving. Children also take to it easily. However, there some rules you should adhere before having your first dive.
To be able to dive, it is a basic necessity that you should know how to swim. It is not recommended for people with health problems to undertake this kind of diving. You should be in a good physical shape and have passed a physical check by a medical practitioner before starting a course for learning how to dive. Never dive if you have flu and wait until you are better.
Take proper training for diving. You have to take a recognized course with a recognized diving instructor. Get certified. This will serve as your proof that you have received and passed training. Be aware of your limitations. Don't go too deep.
Dive with a buddy. Never dive alone. This is one of the basic rules that you must follow for safety. Watch out for each other while scuba diving. Learn the basic signs which will be taught during your diving course. See to it that you understand them well. Learning diving signs could save your life.
It is important to know how to breather correctly. Breathe evenly and slowly and relax when you breathe. Never hold your breath nor take short shallow breaths. This may cause serious injury to your lungs.
Keep a scuba diving log book where you can record everything - all your dives, progress and any relevant information about your diving experience which may include the following:
Date
Time
Depth
Place
Description (for extra information)
You can have your instructor examine your log book and ask for necessary advice. You can also share this record with friends when discussing your diving experiences.
It will be worth the effort if you spend time in planning your dive. Do pre-dive checks with your diving buddy as well as examining each others gear. Test out and see if all quick release catches are working properly. Ensure proper connection of air and buoyancy compensator hoses. Examine tanks and see if they are full and switched on.
Use mask that is in good condition and fits properly. Review your diving signals with your buddy Discuss your dive plan and agree on it . Avoid diving without a buoyancy compensator or some other form of compressed life jacket.
Basic things to observe during the dive:
Fine-tune your buoyancy.
Equalize mask pressure if necessary.
Clear ears from time to time.
Never get far with your buddy.
When possible, move with the currents.
Get your buddy's attention if you experience problems and take action.
Never take unnecessary risks. Both your lives depend on it.
Guard your tank levels and maintain a good level of air (about 50 bars)

my gourami has a parasite?
i have a dwarf gourami that was fine this morning but tonight he's all swollen and had a long stringy white "poo" coming from him... the next minute the "poo" was gone and he was trying to spit it out through his mouth. i managed to catch a segment of this white stringy thing in a net and it definitely looks like a worm. all we have for a quarantine tank right now is an old 1.5 gallon betta bowl. is this good enough for him short term? i know he is an air breather....
also, i have 3 more dwarf gourami's... what do you think the chances are that they all have it too? i don't like putting ANY medicine directly into the main tank b/c i have clown loaches and a gold nugget pleco and rummy nosed tetras.. all who i've heard are pretty sensitive to medicines. ADVICE??????
You can use the 1.5 gallon bowl for for very short term, you wil lneed to make sure that you run air hose. Introduce the medecine....
If you have some nice fish and don't want to introduce medicine into the tank directly you invest some money into a 5 gallon hospital tank.
