Many car enthusiasts who are new to the automotive world of today want to make their cars faster, for both track and street use. From air intakes to turbochargers, I'm going to tell you some of the most common ways you can make your car faster, starting with the least expensive modifications to the most expensive.
Spark Plugs: Spark plugs? Yes your spark plugs. Replacing bad spark plugs will instantly increase your cars performance, and you will notice it. This is probably overlooked by a lot of people, but corroded, rusted, or malfunctioning spark plugs can eat at your cars performance. Be sure to check/change your spark plugs every 10-30k miles. Changing spark plugs is very inexpensive and easy to do. (Spark plugs cost around $5 for a set of 4) Also, make sure your new Spark Plugs are gapped correctly!
Air Intakes: This is usually the first modification done to a car, because it is one the least expensive that can give the most gains. Replacing your stock air intake with a Cold Air Intake or a Short Ram Air Intake will make your car faster. Why? Because factory air intakes limit the amount of air that is allowed to flow into your engine, where short ram intakes and cold air intakes allow free airflow with very little restriction. Short Ram and Cold Air Intakes start around $80 and are very easy to install.
Bigger, Better Exhaust System: Another modification that will make your car faster is a larger Exhaust Downpipe and Cat-Back exhaust system. Both of these reduce the exhaust backpressure on the engine and will increase your engine's power a significant amount, making your car faster and in some cases, louder. Exhaust Downpipes cost around $250 (Or more depending on the car). A Cat-Back Exhaust kit costs around $400 (Or more depending on the car).
Carbon Fiber Hood & Trunk: Carbon Fiber Hoods and Trunks decrease the weight of your car. A carbon fiber hood and trunk doesn't just decrease the weight of your car, it adds a lot of style too! Carbon fiber hoods start around $500 and carbon fiber trunks start around $550.
Performance Intake Manifold: This is another modification that helps increase the amount of air flowing to your engine. A Performance Air-Intake Manifold replaces your stock Air-Intake Manifold and allows a larger volume of air to be pushed into your engine cylinders with little restriction, making your car faster. (This is a must if your car is turbocharged) Performance Air-Intake Manifolds cost around 800$
Intercooler: An intercooler is a must if you have a turbocharged engine. Intercoolers reduce the temperature of the compressed air from the turbocharger. This allows already compressed air molecules to become denser when going into the engine's cylinders. Think of it this way, the more air you stuff into an engine's cylinders, the larger the internal cylinder explosion! This means more power is transferred to the crank. Ultimately making your car much faster! Intercooler Kits start around $1,100.
The Infamous Turbocharger: I'm sure you've heard a lot of people asking if a car has a "Turbo" in it, or proclaiming that their car is "Turbocharged". What they are referring to is a Turbocharger. Turbochargers run off of your engine's exhaust. Turbochargers increase the PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) of the air (oxygen) flowing into your cylinders anywhere from 3psi and up. More PSI creates a bigger explosion during the engine's combustion process, making your car MUCH faster. Turbocharger kits start around $1800.
Note: Make sure your engine will be able to handle the extra boost. Always research a product before you buy it. You don't want to purchase something you can't use, or something that could be harmful to your engine.
The Engine Swap: This is the Best and most expensive way to make your car faster. Putting a larger engine into your car will SIGNIFICANTLY increase your cars horsepower, speed, torque, whp, EVERYTHING. If you are seriously thinking about making a complete performance car, I recommend rebuilding the engine you're going to swap into your car with top of the line components and adding forged internals. Forged internals are EXPENSIVE but VERY durable and won't break nearly as easily as stock internal would at high RPM. An engine swap can cost anywhere from $500 to $6,000 or more.

I am planning to get an evo, and I wanna put a Carbon Fiber hood and Carbon fiber trunk in it.
Its not imossible but you would have to be very delicate. I wouldnt risk it.
