Cars (Single-Disc Full Screen Edition) List Price: $29.99 Sale Price: $18.99 |

There's an extra coat of hot wax on Pixar's vibrant, NASCAR-influenced comedy about a world populated entirely by cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is the slick rookie taking the Piston Cup series by storm when the last race of the season (the film's high-octane opening) ends in a three-way tie. On the way to the tie-breaker race in California, Lightning loses his way off Route 66 in the Southwest desert and is taught to stop and smell the roses by the forgotten citizens of Radiator Springs. It's odd to have such a slim story from the whizzes of Pixar, and the film pales a bit from their other films (though can that be a fair comparison?). Nonetheless, Cars is another gleaming ride with Pixar founder John Lasseter, who's directing for the first time since Toy Story 2. There's the usual spectrum of excellent characters teamed with appropriate voice talent, loads of smooth humor for kids and parents alike, knockout visuals, and a colorful array of sidekicks, including a scene-stealing baby blue forklift named Guido. Lightning's plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera (Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt), the town's patriarch Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and kooky tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The Incredibles was the first Pixar film to break the 100-minute barrier, but had enough story not to suffer; Cars, at 116 minutes (including some must-see end credit footage), is not as fortunate, plus it never pierces the heart. Trivia fans should have bonanza with the frame-by-frame DVD function; the movie is stuffed with in-jokes, some appearing only for an instant. Ages 5 and up. --Doug Thomas From the acclaimed creators of TOY STORY, THE INCREDIBLES, and FINDING NEMO comes a high-octane adventure comedy that shows life is about the journey, not the finish line. Hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life. Stranded in Radiator Springs, a forgotten town on the old Route 66, he meets Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and a variety of quirky characters who help him discover that there's more to life than trophies and fame. Revved up with a sensational soundtrack, featuring Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, James Taylor, and others, plus exciting bonus features, including the exclusive short movie "Mater And The Ghostlight," CARS is full of freewheeling fun for everyone. Product Measures: 0.61" x 5.34" x 7.5" |

Smokey and the Bandit (Special Edition) List Price: $12.98 Sale Price: $4.69 |
|
It's easy to assume this is just another dumb redneck comedy from Burt Reynolds's years of underachievement. But it's not bad as a dumb redneck comedy at all. Directed by career stuntman Hal Needham, Smokey and the Bandit is just a goofy chase starring a bunch of Reynolds's Hollywood cronies. New to the job as film boss, Needham brings a silly but energized sensibility to the production and an action man's need to see things moving. But he also has a distinctive feeling for relationships, and he's good with a joke. Put all that together, and Smokey is, at the very least (and unlike its sequels), a simple and original pleasure. --Tom Keogh Get ready to tear up the highway with the Bandit (Burt Reynolds), a fun-loving, fast-talking trucker who takes on his craziest haul yet - delivering 400 cases of beer from Texarkana to Atlanta in just 28 hours. With Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) hot on his trail and eager to teach him some respect for the law, the Bandit joins forces with good ol' boy, Cledus (Jerry Reed) and runaway bride Carrie (Sally Field). Gear up for huge laughs, pedal-to-the-metal action, and some of the wildest car crashes ever filmed! Starring: Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, Sally Field, Jerry Reed, Mike Henry, Paul Williams, Pat McCormick Directed by: Hal Needham |

Days of Thunder List Price: $14.98 Sale Price: $4.00 |
|
With Days of Thunder, director Tony Scott tried to do for the Indy 500 what he did for the U.S. Air Force with Top Gun. But without Top Gun's go-go soundtrack and visual feats, Scott merely ends up with a Tom Cruise vehicle that's out of gas. Cruise plays (what else?) a cocky, upstart stock-car racer who faces down ruthless racing opponents. Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Cary Elwes, and Randy Quaid do the laps around this movie's tiresome track with Cruise, while director Scott attempts to propel the action along with his trademark visceral, gritty but glamorous visual style. Days of Thunder is notable, however, as a turning point in Cruise's then one-dimensional career. After this film--having tired even his most devoted fans by playing a bartender, an air force pilot, and a stock-car driver--Cruise was forced to take on real character parts. --Ethan Brown His vehicle may be land-based here, but Tom Cruise is still the fastest guy around in this thrilling drama set against the danger-filled world of auto racing. Exciting racing footage fuels the action. Robert Duvall, Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid co-star. 107 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Surround, French Dolby Digital Surround; theatrical trailer. |

Here are some more information for Car Racing Logo:

The AMG Mercedes Benz Logo
The Mercedes Benz AMG logo is a recognisable brand that signifies quality. The Mercedes Benz AMG logo is only found on the cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz which has become one of the most trusted names in the car industry.
The Mercedes Benz logo is a symbol that began in 1909 with the merger of two companies. Those companies were Benz and Cie and the DMG companies that produced automobiles at the turn of the century. When WWI became a reality in Europe the two companies joined forces to create Mercedes Benz.
The three pointed symbol has been designed to represent power over the land, the air and the sea. This may be the spiritual way of looking at the logo, but nowadays Mercedes Benz owners probably do not look at the logo in that way. To them, the Mercedes Benz AMG logo is a symbol of reliability, speed and quality of workmanship.
The Mercedes Benz AMG logo is found with the traditional Mercedes Benz logo. The AMG logo simply features the letters AMG which stands for Aufrecht Melcher Grossapach. These letters represent the names of the Mercedes Benz AMG inventors as well as the first initial of the birthplace of the AMG motor.
You will not find a Mercedes Benz AMG logo without the traditional three pointed Mercedes Benz logo, since the two represent a partnership to create the fastest, best car on the market. It was through striving for this goal, that the AMG motor was developed for race car drivers and to bring the public a car that currently reaches over 150 miles per hour.
Although the official name of Mercedes Benz did not become a part of the company until later the symbol has been an integral part of the Mercedes Benz Company since its conception in 1909. The Mercedes Benz name and the signature wreath of laurel became a traditional part of the Mercedes Benz AMG logo in 1926.
Why Look For The Mercedes Benz Logo?
When you are in the market for a car, choosing a genuine Mercedes Benz is a choice that will provide years of enjoyment. Not only is the Mercedes Benz AMG logo synonymous with quality and speed it also means that your car will be protected by the best warranties and service plans available. The build quality is such that the engine can easily go around the clock twice, that is 200,000 miles. The body work deteriorates faster than the engine does.

Who else besides me finds it hard to watch Nascar because it is so overly corporate? There are sponsorships?
everywhere you look. The racers outfits are covered in sponsors logos, same with there cars. As soon as they win a race, they have to open a Gatorade or Coke can or whatever sponsorship they have. It's disgusting how corporate it is. You agree?
all sports are getting like that. I never saw it like this when I was a kid. All the stadiums are named after companies now. It is rediculous
New Ferrari so fast and powerful it's 'absurd'
The security gate snaps out of the way and I fulfill a dream: I pull a blood-red Ferrari out of the entrance of the Ferrari factory. Better, it's the new 458 Italia, the successor to the immensely popular F430 sports car.
