Can a knee brace cause muscle pain?
I got a knee brace on Monday to try to push my knee cap back in place and support my MCL. It is one of those snazzy metal, hinged braces that has a metal piece about 6 inches below my knee and another one 6 inches above my knee with Velcro straps behind each of those as well as straps about 3 inches below/above those to hold the knee cap.
Since I have had my brace on my my quadriceps and my calf muscle have been extremely sore. Is this because my brace is too tight or is it because my leg is being forced to move in a certain way?
The brand is Bledsoe and I had it fitted but I had to readjust it a little. Maybe I just need to keep tinkering with it until it gets comfortable...well as comfortable as a brace can be.
There are a couple reasons that it could be hurting .
It does keep the leg in a certain position this can also cause pain as can strapping them to tight .
Placement if not placed just right it will ride on that muscle hard .
Misfit or not properly measured .
What brand is it . I know mine is a DJ Ortho defiance if I do not set it properly it will hurt . Also you may need to re-seat it again it takes some getting use to but you will eventually be able to do it with your eyes closed . Continued issues you will need to contact your orthopedic doctor

do try to re-seat it if that does not work call them and have them remeasure it the axiom is a custom fit brace . They may have mixed up the measurements . It does happen on an occasion 
It can also be due to swelling or making your leg "stay " put so to speak which makes the mucsles work
