Start your search for exceptional Toronto homes for sale, and consider Bloor West Village - one of the few Toronto "villages" to live up to its name! Affectionately known as"a small village in a big city" - Bloor West Village has the distinction of being one of the first communities (in the early 1970's) to establish a very successful BIA (business improvement area). This model of rejuvenation has been utilized in many urban centres throughout North America and has shaped the amazing shopping district that exists here today.
The Bloor West Village neighbourhood lies just north of Bloor St. West- just east of Jane St and just west of High Park with easy access routes to 2 subway stations (Runnymede and Jane) as well as the Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore routes for easy access to the central Toronto core. Lake Ontario and the Martin Goodman trail with its extensive walking and cycling paths is also nearby.
Leave your car behind and stroll along the dense 10 block section of Bloor St. W that is officially "the Village" and experience its energetic vibe and many charming European style shops. There are over 400 shops, eateries and services here - cafes, boutique stores, specialty food and meat shops, amazing bakeries and abundant green grocers (some featuring organic produce). Shoppers return again and again, making Bloor West Village one of the more popular shopping districts in Toronto, Ontario. Looking to keep fit - Bloor West Village is also a growingly active neighbourhood with several studios and gyms that have opened over the past few years. The Village has something for everyone!
What is it like to live here one might ask? Singles and families love to call it home and are drawn to this welcoming mature neighbourhood with abundant towering maples and oak trees and green spaces - for a variety of reasons.
Unlike the suburbs, with their cookie cutter houses - typical Bloor West Village homes constructed between 1912-1925 have a lot to offer. Originally similar in size and style most homes are now often quite unique due to personalization, renovation & expansion over the years! These 2 storey 3-4 bedroom brick detached and semi detached homes feature wonderful wide traditional porches ( enjoy a book or your morning coffee - or watch your children play), lots of wood trim and accents throughout, fireplaces and hardwood floors.
Recently it has become common to see small homes on larger lots replaced with modern new builds- so there is also a blend of old and new. Private drives are a rarity. It is the city - after all! Parking pads, laneways or the very common mutual drive are the standard parking options. Many residents use street parking, or "think green" and take the very convenient subway or the new cycle pathway along Annette St to get around. Zip and Autoshare cars are available in designated parking lots.
A family oriented community with several recreation centres, parkettes and a wide selection of great schools offering a variety of good music & sports programs, as well as French Immersion. Choose from Annette Public School, Runnymede Public School, Humberside Collegiate School, Western Technical School St. Pius X and St Cecilia Catholic Schools- or 2 privately run Montessori schools.
Another wonderful neighbourhood draw, is the close proximity to the city's biggest park - High Park! Just a brisk walk or short subway ride away- this 399 acre city landmark features manicured gardens, a large outdoor pool & wading pool, Jamie Bell Adventure Playground (an incredible wooden "castle-like" structure) designed by children in 1998, picnic areas, tennis courts animal paddocks & tranquil Grenadier pond along the southerly park limits- near Lake Ontario. The westerly section of Bloor West Village is steps to Etienne Brule Park- near historic Old Mill. A pretty meandering green space- it features extensive walking and cycling paths adjacent to the Humber River, as well as scenic picnic areas.

Make Concrete Blocks- Build a Solid Business
Making concrete blocks is a profitable business opportunity. You can start in your garage with little investment.Make your own molds from plywood and sheet metal and you can easily turn out 100 cement blocks per day.The concrete mix is made from Portland cement, sand, gravel and water. You can hand mix these in the correct proportions or use a cement mixer.Hand fill the molds, remove the blocks from them and set out to dry
Concrete blocks are a basic commodity of the building trade.Everything from backyard compost boxes to big buildings is built from concrete blocks. There is always a market for cement blocks. You can count on that. They do not go out of style like a here today, gone tomorrow hula hoop.
Transportation of concrete products is expensive due to their weight and bulk. You do not have this cost in selling to local customers. You can supply them at a very competitive price and still make a nice profit. Many building supply stores have to bring their concrete products in from distant suppliers which adds substantially to the cost of the product. You will find them very receptive to the better price you can give them.
You can start your concrete products business as a part time project while continuing to work at your job. This makes it very easy since there is no loss of income while you build your business from a small start. You can then go full time when production and profits merit this move.Working evenings and weekends can be quite profitable and full time work can earn you a wonderful living.
When you become a full time concrete block maker you will need more space to store and dry your blocks. You will also need a concrete block making machine which can turn out hundreds of blocks per day.You will need business premises to accomodate the drying racks for your concrete blocks. You can buy a machine capable of turning out all the blocks you can sell.It is quite an expensive tool. The less costly way is to build your own machine.
From available plans you can build an excellent concrete block making machine from used auto parts, sheet metal and a few odds and ends.It works as well as any commercial model. If you can't do the necessary welding a local welding shop will do it for you at reasonable cost. This fine machine can turn out 800 concrete blocks per day with ease. You can build it for a fraction of the cost of a commecial model. You will probably require a helper to move the blocks from the machine to the drying racks. An employee, family member or business partner can do this for you.
Besides making cement blocks you can manufacture patio slabs, garden ornaments, garden furniture, bird baths and many other items. Plans are available for these very profitable sidelines. You can also go into the business of building with concrete blocks and build everything from garages, sheds and other buildings to small backyard projects such as compost boxes and barbeques. As the manufacturer of the concrete products used you will find this to be very profitable.
Making concrete blocks and other concrete products is a good way to make a living. You can build, from scratch,a business which will bring you a wonderful income.Sufficient in fact to afford the things you can only dream of while working at most jobs.

does a big block Ford have the same bell housing pattern as a small block?
I have two Ford trucks, one having a 5.0 with a 4speed manual trans, and the other having a 460 with an automatic trans. Will the 460 bolt up to the 4speed bell housing? and what about the flywheel are they interchangeable?
Thanks for your inputs.
No, and doubtful.
