Looking for a bright led flashlight that lights up the night sky like a flash from a nuclear blast.
Technology has advanced so much these days that the amazing amount of light that a good quality LED flashlight can put out is awesome.
Don't be fooled by others though. The capabilities of the torch that I'm talking about isn't like one of those cheap led lights you might see at your local markets or two dollar shop.
This baby will throw a beam of light over 300meters, which is about 984 feet. It has nice hot and bright beam in the centre that really throws a long way. And the Fenix TK40 has a very wide spill of light.
I can illuminate my whole backyard with this thing. There are four levels of power outputs on the torch. They are low, medium, high and turbo.
Seriously with this led flashlight on turbo mode it's simply one of the best led flashlights out there. You know when you drive at night with the high beam turned on, well you can have this thing on turbo mode and shine the torch out of the window with the high beams off and the TK40 is brighter that the high beam on my car.
It's like having the power of high beam headlights in your hand.
This flashlight will run for 150hrs straight on the low power setting. This is an amazing 6 days of run time.
I mean 6 freaking days straight. On the turbo mode it will burn for 2hrs, which is fantastic considering that it is so bright. It puts out 630 lumens on turbo mode by the way.
It is by far the brightest led torch or flashlight that I have ever used or seen in person. And what's better is that it uses AA batteries. This is brilliant, it means that you can easily pick up spare batteries at any service station or shop if you are camping or going bush etc.
I use eneloop rechargeable batteries as they are a very good batteries and have exceptional shelf life one they are charged. They will hold their charge for a lot longer than other brands. So no more charging batteries and the coming back a month or two later to find the device does not work anymore.
In comparison to a 3D cell mag light the maglight is no match at all. The Fenix TK40 LED blows the mag light away on run times, light throw, brightness, functions weight and size. This flashlight is about 2/3 the length of the maglight, and the thickness is about the same. It fits in your hand really nice and is comfortable and balanced to use.
It has four other secondary modes of operation like fast flash, slow flash, strode and SOS flash. These functions are great to have for any night time activities where you might need to have a flashing beacon at night. And obviously the SOS flash would be a life saver.

Harley headlight problem, any ideas on the cause?
I have a 2002 Super Glide. Last night when I was out riding it I put on my high beam. I switched back to the low beam, no problem. I turned on the high beam again and not only did I not have a high beam, I lost my low beam as well. That's right, no headlight at all. When I switched back to low beam the low beam did come back on. This morning I was riding my bike and the low beam was on. I got home, turned off the bike. A few minutes later I decided to investigate. When I turned the key on I found I had neither a low or a high beam. I took off the headlight. I found the connection the light plugs into was melted in the area where the black wire connects to the connection. I spent the afternoon trying to chase down a possible short but came up with nothing. By the way, all the other lights on the bike continue to work. Any ideas on what caused this? I try to do as much repair work on my bike by myself, but electrical is one of my weaknesses.
Sounds like you had a bad connection at the common terminal of the socket. A bad connection = resistance, which creates heat. Hot enough to melt those connectors. You may (probably will) want to replace that socket.
Seen it before. Replacement sockets can be gotten at any auto parts store.
