:: What is the LC Connector
Designed by Bell Labs, the research and development arm of Lucent Technologies, LC is a high-density optical connector used for single mode and multimode fiber optic applications, in both public and private networks. They are designed to be a RJ-45 style which is very familiar to installers who handle copper modular plugs all the time.
Duplex LC is polarized which makes it obvious orientation to adapter with no keying. Duplex LC have A/B polarity markings and meet TIA 568-A and ISO 11801 standards. The polarity maintains Tx/Rx directions.
LC has excellent performance. They are made for pull-proof, can handle tight bend radius and is GR-409 Bellcore compliant. Duplex LC adapters fit in standard RJ-45 cutout which is a big advantage compared to SC, ST and other 2.5mm ferrule fiber connectors.
:: LC Connector Dimensions
It is a small form factor type and occupies only half the size of a SC connector. A typical LC for 2mm jacket fiber measures 50.4mm in length, 5.59mm in width, and 5.59mm in height. (The total height is 10.43mm if including the RJ type latch).
LC has a 1.25mm diameter ceramic (Zirconia ferrule) which sticks out 1.8mm from the connector body.
