What are the considerations for and against buying a charged media electrostatic air purifier? In just one minute, let me reveal the most important ones.
A charged media filter is one that collects particles by static charge. Using this technology it is possible to collect particles as small as 0.1 micron.
An example would be the 3M Filtrete media many people use in their furnace and HVAC systems. The Ultra Clean 3M air purifier uses this same media and is a good example of a relatively inexpensive but highly effective electrostatic air purifier.
These filters start with an efficiency as high as 90 percent. But as the surface becomes clogged with particles efficiency decreases. The greatest efficiency loss is in the smallest particle sizes since the electrostatic charge is used up with each particle capture.
These filters do not work like HEPA filters and cannot remove microscopic particles mechanically since the media is not as fine. It will continue to filter larger particles better than an ionic air cleaner because the media is small enough to not need the attraction of opposite charges used for smaller particles.
The main advantage is that you can clean a very large volume of air quickly with low air resistance. This means you don't need as powerful a fan and there will be much less noise produced. The Ultra Clean 3M air purifier mentioned earlier can be very quiet while still having a clean air delivery rate 13 times greater than the more expensive Sharper Image Ionic Breeze.
The main disadvantage to this type of electrostatic air purifier is the cost of filter replacement, typically recommended every 90 days. And of course the gradual efficiency drop as the filter becomes dirty means that your air is a little less clean with each passing day. But for many people they do provide good allergy relief.

Tips When Buying An Air Purifier
With the rise in allergy sufferers, it is no wonder that air purifiers are growing in popularity. However, there are so many models available. How do you make sure that you are buying the right air purifier for your home? These air purifier buying tips should help you successfully choose the right model for you.
One of the most important things you should do when you are buying an air purifier is to figure out the square footage of the room or rooms where you will be using it. Don't take a wild guess. This is really an important measurement. A purifier that is designed for a smaller room won't adequately clean a room that is too big for it. To figure out the square footage of a room, measure the length of one side of the room and the width of another side. Multiply the two numbers together. This is the square footage. Once you know this number, you can look at the purifier's information to be sure it is supposed to clean a room that is at least as big as your room, if not larger.
Next, check to see whether the air purifier you are considering is designed to clean the pollutants that are in your home. Not all purifiers clean tobacco, pollen, dust, or pet dander. If your home has all of these pollutants, you will need to look for an air ionizer or a combination HEPA filter/air ionizer in your purifier.
Another important consideration for most people shopping for an air purifier is the loudness of different models. Usually, ionizer models are much quieter than HEPA filter models.
However, ionizers must be used in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner to be effective, since they do not actually remove dust and other pollutants from the room. Ionizers simply make all of the pollutants so heavy that they fall from the air and drop to the ground.
Before you make a final decision, you should also consider the life of the filter in the air purifier. Replacement filters can be quite expensive. Ionizers do not need any filters, but they do need to be cleaned quite often.
Finally, you should take a look at how often air is circulated through the air purifier and back into the room. The best purifiers circulate the room's air at least 5 times an hour. To find out how many times the model you are considering circulates air, look for the ACH rating, which stands for air changes per hour.

hate the Sportster air cleaner shape: Can I replace?
Without replacing the carb or other parts? I don't want one with an HD logo, or a skull. If yer into that, that's cool, but I'm not. Just be nice to find an air cleaner that's round or tear drop that I can bolt on and not think too much about it. Any suggestions or companies that got what I want? It's a 1999 883XLH, if that matters. I know that some of y'all hate the sporty, and that's super, but telling me about it, doesn't help. I also know that HD has a lot of hate fans, but I don't care. So what say ye?
Okay, what did I say about the sporty? I don't have a garage to keep a 49 knucklehead or a 53 panhead, streched and raked with a suicide clutch. Its a sporty, I like it, it cost me about 3500 bucks and I expect it to go when I hop on.
A hypercharger looks good on a sportster and they are not that hard to put on.
